Mr D a division of the Takealot Group is looking for a highly talented Senior Merchandising Associate to join our team in Cape Town.

This position reports to the Marketplace Manager of Mr D.

Purpose of Role

To own merchandising efforts across the Mr D marketplace verticals. Ensuring order mix and commercial goals are achieved by reviewing and carefully curating hyperlocal merchandising strategies.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Own merchandising and promotional strategy across the Mr D marketplace verticals
• Drive merchandising with a focus on maximising partner discoverability and conversion
• Maximise the usage of the Mr D app merchandising inventory and report back on successes and learnings
• Run cross departmental sessions that focus on best practice partner curation
• Understand and report on the commercial impact of merchandising initiatives
• Manage merchandising planning sessions and calendars
• Work closely with the advertising teams to ensure of booked campaigns
• Lead a team of Merchandising Associates to ensure the day to day running of merchandising and promotional tasks and reporting
• Ensure daily reporting back to the business on overall performance

Attributes required:

• Attention to detail in a high pressure environment.
• Strong analytical ability supported by solid Excel skills.
• Advanced ability to use logic and common sense to arrive at conclusions.
• Willingness to buy into the requirements of a fast paced startup environment.
• Ability to verbalize as well as visualize findings and results.
• Enterprising spirit and ability to take ownership of tasks.
• Highly numerate.
• A strong interest in ecommerce.
• Strong team player.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Minimum 35 years experience in an Ecommerce Marketplace Environment/Online B2B or Retail
• A minimum of 12 years leading a team
