Volunteer Opportunity

Sports Facilitator:
As the Sports Facilitator you will using your love for physical activities and utilize that to engage youth in experiences that will help them to be challenged and grow as individuals and as peers. You can be creative in providing these opportunities learn to lead groups of youth and develop relationships with the students you engage.

Responsibilities:
  • Be present in the gym space or outdoor field throughout the dropin time.
  • Engage with the youth through various sports and physical activities.
  • Build relationships with the youth through the common connection of the activity.
  • Foster attitudes of cooperation sportsmanship and inclusion over the competition.
  • Welcome and include ALL youth in the activities including those who might not be naturally athletic and not normally engage in physical activity as a result.
  • Help maintain a safe welcoming and controlled environment in the gym.
  • Arrive early enough to do any necessary setup for sports activities.
  • Stay for half an hour after the program to clean up and debrief with the rest of the leadership team.

Time Commitment:
  • Dropins run from 3:306pm 2x per week after school at each dropin across the city. We would love you to be at as many as you are comfortable with. Our preference would be at least one day a week but this is negotiable.
  • 1 hour 3x per year for support/checkins with the team lead.
  • 2 hours 2x per year for training/appreciation.

As a relationallyfocused program you and your presence matter. Youth are looking for role models and stable consistent adults to support them. So if you want to take on a volunteer role with us commitment is important. Relationships are built on stability.
