The ASL specialists are a small established team within the Outreach Services team of Provincial Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services that supports families children caregivers and community members with ASL services. The ASL specialists work alongside Family Navigators to help parents engage with their children and remove communication barriers. They focus on early language development for children and ASL education for caregivers and the community.
The Role
The ASL Specialist provides ASL instruction to children youth and families to improve communication. They also offer Deaf cultural awareness workshops for families and professionals. The specialist creates lessons based on the Sign Language Institute Canadas standards and works with a team to support both signing and nonsigning individuals in enhancing communication skills.

This position can be based out of any of the location(s) listed above.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work from home up to 2 days a week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent and/or temporary vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required.
