International Student Advisors Office
Operating within Student Affairs & Services the International Student Advisors Office (ISAO) provides specialized highlevel support to UNBs international student population. ISAO services include prearrival assistance orientation and social programming integration and immigration support and emergency bursary administration. These services ensure international students receive comprehensive support throughout their time at UNB.

Fulltime 1year Term Fredericton OnCampus

Standard Work Hours: Mon Fri 8:15 am 4:30 pm 36.25 hours per week

Salary Range: $49605 $62014 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Director International Student Advisors Office the International Student Engagement Advisor plays a key role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive community across UNB by designing developing and implementing engagement initiatives that build connections and enhance students sense of belonging. Leveraging industry best practices and innovative research the advisor creates effective programs and events tailored to the needs of UNBs international students.

  • Assess evaluate and document evolving international student needs through various methods including focus groups surveys and monitoring discussions.
  • Facilitate opportunities for peertopeer engagement mentorship and cultural exchange using a variety of approaches.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to create inclusive programming that enhances student integration and retention.
  • Deliver educational workshops on key topics such as offcampus housing financial literacy health insurance taxes and immigration.
  • Maintain and regularly update online resources for international students.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to promote ISAO activities events and workshops.
  • Manage ISAOs social media platforms creating content to engage international students.
  • Design budget plan promote deliver and evaluate international student cultural and orientation activities and events to support and encourage a smooth transition to UNB.
  • Identify assess and mitigate potential risks associated with student programming and events
  • Lead the onboarding training and ongoing supervision of international student employees.
  • Manage a budget envelope for engagement programming ensuring responsible allocation and financial records are reconciled regularly to maintain accuracy.
  • Work closely with the ISAO team to align engagement efforts with overall student support strategies.
  • Contribute to crossdepartmental and take on additional projects or responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of ISAO.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Undergraduate degree preferably with an international focus.
  • 23 years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience working with postsecondary students.
  • Previous experience or knowledge about advising and counseling practices.

Additional Strengths

  • Experience in designing planning and executing events on both a small and larger scale is highly valued.
  • Culturally sensitive and highly collaborative individual.
  • Lived experience as an international student in Canada is an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to provide information produce correspondence and craft marketing materials including web content and newsletters in a clear and effective manner.
  • Experience in independently researching gathering & analyzing data summarizing creating reports & recommending solutions.
  • Demonstrated judgment and decisionmaking skills to independently and effectively make decisions impacting student wellbeing department and campuswide programs policies and financial responsibility.
  • Able to connect naturally with a wide variety of people foster collaborative relationships and contribute to a positive working environment.
  • Displays appreciation for and recognizes value of different opinions roles experiences cultures and backgrounds.
  • A detailoriented organized professional who is selfmotivated and able to deliver high quality results under pressure firm deadlines and often evolving priorities.
  • A naturally curious professional with an interest in trying new ways of doing things adopting new technologies continuous improvement and lifelong learning.
  • Knowledge of student development theory peerbased programs firstyear experience and student engagement is desirable.
