As a Senior Advisor Contracts and Education Officer youll play a crucial role in facilitating research and commercial agreements at the University of Melbourne. Youll have the opportunity to negotiate and finalise contracts collaborate with researchers and staff across various departments and contribute to the smooth progression of research transactions. This role offers you the chance to apply your legal expertise in a dynamic academic environment shaping the future of research and innovation.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and Negotiating Agreements: Analyse advise on and finalise research and commercial engagement contracts seeking legal advice when necessary.
  • Managing Approval Processes: Organise the approval and signing of agreements by appropriate delegates ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Building Strong Relationships: Cultivate productive partnerships with researchers RIC staff faculty members and external clients to facilitate smooth business operations.
  • Providing Mentorship: Supervise and support junior team members fostering their professional development and enhancing team performance.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a law graduate with demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating contracts possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to apply sound judgment in complex commercial and research environments.

You may also:

  • Hold a law degree with experience in commercial or government contracting.
  • Have a strong working knowledge of contract law commercial law and intellectual property.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problemsolving abilities in commercial contracting scenarios.
  • Excel in time management and prioritisation capable of meeting deadlines efficiently.
