About Austal

Austalis Australias global shipbuilder Defence prime contractor and maritime technology partner of choice designing constructing and supporting defence and commercial vessels for the worlds leading operators. The company operates in Australia the USA Philippines and Vietnam.

Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence employing approximately 1000 people in facilities in located Western Australia Queensland and the Northern Territory.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager of People & Culture in this role you will be providing HR support within a multidisciplined Global organisation. We are interested in your previous HR Generalist experience within similar industries high attention to detail effective stakeholder management and adaptability.

Whats involved

  • Provide business partnering support to line managers in relation to the HR life cycle including performance reviews engagement retention employee relations restructures talent management and succession planning.
  • First point of contact and intermediary for line managers and employees of nominated departments.
  • Consult support and coach Line Managers in relation to grievances and disciplinary issues including performance and/or conduct land assist where required in complex investigations.
  • Conduct investigations negotiating claims managing complaints grievances performance management and disputes from employees.
  • Assist in recruitment activities where required.
  • Coordinate with Line Managers all employee movements transfers promotions terminations etc.
  • Implement P&C related programs within departments including reward & recognition employee development and EVP.

Youll need

  • Tertiary level qualification in Human Resources or related field minimum Diploma level
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR business partner or advisory role
  • Experience in similar industry would be advantageous
  • A practical knowledge of employment law and industrial relations legislation including interpreting and applying a range of industrial instruments.
  • High level communication skills both written and verbal including well developed negotiation and influencing capabilities.
  • Experience undertaking workplace investigations making sound judgments assisting in solving complex problems and workforce development.
