This position reports to the Correctional Food Service Manager at a medium custody male correctional facility. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers.
- Providing oversight of offenders performing largescale food production.
- Providing supervision of the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population.
- Planning directing and supervising the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders.
- Providing accurate and timely record keeping.
- Utilizing computerized food and nutrition systems to prepare and serve daily meals.
- Conducting employee work appraisals.
- Work also includes: food preparation serving storage menu planning menu substitutions and maintaining sanitation requirements.
As of January 1 2025 there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission effective January 1 2025. The new salary range will be $37782 $66120.

The salary grade for this position is NC08(Salary Range: $37782 $66120. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.
About Warren Correctional Institution:
Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson NC. It houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products soap and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies.

To qualify for this position applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:
- Documented experience in sanitation preparing menus managing inventory and/or other largescale food service production activities.
- Documented supervision of employees and/or offenders.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma ANDthree years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services in management of a commercial food service operations OR as a Correctional Officer OR two years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
