Company Summary:

Plato Learning operates outdoor mythologybased camps for kids ages 715. They create a world where
monsters myth and magic transport kids out of the mortal realm into one where they are empowered to
develop new skills take risks solve problems and ultimately become Heroes. With seventeen locations spanning
from NYC to California Plato Learning uses actors liveaction roleplay and physically and mentally engaging
activities to bring myths to life.

Camp Mythik is Plato Learnings first overnight camp! Demigod Campers who are rising 5th10th graders will
enjoy a week of adventure creation and storytelling at our Cold Spring NY site. We are looking for a Director
with compassion and understanding for the behavioral needs of middle schoolersthey are navigating and their
relationship with the world history politics gender sexuality and building their opinions and values.

Job Summary:
We are hiring an energetic leader to serve as summer Camp Director at our sleepaway location in Cold Spring
NY. Camp Directors are responsible for creating engaging environments for campers to explore their love of
stories and adventure using Plato Learnings playbased literacy model. They guide the experience with their
Leadership Team and Counselors to keep Camp running at its full potential and set a heroic example for their
staff through serviceleadership. Camp Directors also create healthy relationships with our parents and facilities
juggling the needs of many while keeping the camper experience and staff mentorship as their top priorities.

Job Responsibilities

Guide the Camper Experience.

  • Maintain the courageous standards for self expression and community wellbeing that define our camps environment and culture.
  • Uplift our provided curriculum materials.
  • Encourage physical intellectual and socialemotional growth for our campers while also adhering to

Plato Learnings safety policies and procedures.

Empower Your Staff.

  • Imbue your staff with resiliency and programming knowledge through training that allows them to develop the growth of our campers.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and mentorship that supports them as leaders in the camp space.
  • Train and coach staff on appropriate parent communications camper supervision and active engagement

Build a Community of Heroes.

  • Support camper recruiting and retention
  • Manage an 18person staff team as well as coordinate and liaise with the TOEC team. Facilitate

collaboration that allows both staffs (Camp Mythik TOEC onsite team) to work towards one goal of
providing outdoor adventure experiences for campers.

  • Organize launch and run your local camp program bringing stories to life for campers

Lead Your Team.

  • Coordinate responsibilities with your Leadership team with the support of the National Program

Director who will be onsite for the duration of the camp

  • Delegate and work together to keep Camp running smoothly as you help each position to grow and

flourish in their specialty

Work in Partnerships.

  • As the leader of your camp youll build/maintain relationships with parents offering them a glimpse

into our world and ensuring their demigods safety and joy.

  • Working with the team at headquarters manage your camps online registration database answer

parent/vendor emails and maintain the communication hub for camp.

Steel your Resolve.

  • We are looking for courageous individuals who can lean into the challenges presented by our energetic

mostlyoutdoor environment.

  • Staff are the first people our Demigods look to in times of challenge and uncertainty we are looking for

courageous individuals excited by the discomfort in adventure and who do not shy away from responsibility
in the rain or heat of summer.

  • A Camp Mythik Director will spend most of their day on their feet and walk anywhere fromsteps/day on the job across varying terrain at the Taconic Outdoor Education Center.

The Hours.

  • Approx 46 hours of selfpaced Training
  • Attend a 25 hour InPerson Training the days before program start date
  • 3 Weeks inperson at your camp location (our program runs on a 6 day on 1 day off schedule with

rotational nights off weekly).

  • Camp Day Schedule: 7:00am10:00pm; MondaySaturday morning which includes personal breaks
  • Housing is provided for the entirety of the program all meals are provided from Monday breakfast

Saturday breakfast.

  • Camp operates three weeks from June 19thJuly 14th

What skills are we looking for

  • Camp experience required overnight experience preferred
  • Experience with children in 5th10th grades required
  • Earlycareer employee management experience required
  • Strong conflict resolution communication and problemsolving abilities
  • Strong collaborative delegators who are compassionate curious and enthusiastic
  • Excitement about working in an outdoor fastpaced environment in the summer
  • Ability to maintain stamina and endurance over the course of the Camp Season
  • Full program availability June 17thJuly 14th. Due to the nature of staffing sleepaway camp we are

unable to accommodate inseason conflicts.

Benefits and Compensation:

  • Compensation. $1250/week for the Camp program. This includes:
  • During Staff Training days: 2025 hours for your program (at $17/hr)
  • Referral Bonus: $50 bonus for any referred applicants who are hired for a seasonal positionpaid at the end of the season

  • All Camp Mythik Leadership are ready and willing to reside temporarily in camper accommodations if necessary in the event of unforeseen circumstance
