Project/Position Overview:Saguaro National Park Rincon Mountain District is realigning the Visitor Center entrance road relocating the fee collection kiosk expand parking to increase capacity and improve deficiencies in usability improve traffic circulation and visitor welfare. Construction will also include realignment of the main entrance road from Old Spanish Trail that is being widen for the addition of a new right turn lane. The revised entrance design will provide more direct access to Cactus Loop Drive and separate circulation within the visitor center. The traffic circulation will also address bicycle traffic and pedestrian routes.
Construction will also include relocation of the entry monument and associated parking for photo opportunities design of a new comfort station and water bottle filling/drinking fountain station pedestrian crosswalks and additional sidewalks to improve pedestrian mobility throughout the project area. The new layout preserves areas with existing vegetation and best preserves the viewshed of the park while providing accessible pedestrian paths and sustainable storm water management areas.
Responsibilities and Duties:- Provide technical assistance and support to CO during construction.
- Read interpret and understand the construction contract plans and specifications.
- Arrange attend and facilitate a variety of meetings including weekly meetings at the project site.
- Document issues encountered and problems experienced with the construction contractor.
- Review contractors baseline and progress schedules.
- Draft project related correspondence for NPS to review.
- Understand and document inspections during and post construction as well as mockup inspections.
- Inspect the work of the construction contractor for progress workmanship quality and conformance with contract documents applicable building codes and safety standards.
- Deliver reports reviews evaluations design work etc. to CO.
- Review and process Construction Contractors RFIs and assist in resolution draft response tracking and follow up.
Required Education Knowledge and Skills:- Construction Management Degree Engineering Degree and/or 15 years relevant experience highly preferred.
- Experience with construction practices directly related to in installation and demolition of asphalt installation and demolition of concrete fine earth grading drainage infrastructure electrical plumbing welding protection of historic masonry installation of masonry landscaping and working with historic resources.
- Minimum of OSHA 30hour construction safety training preferred.
- Knowledge of cost estimating with breakdown of labor materials and equipment costs for proposed construction contract modifications.
- Ability to evaluate payment requests.
- Ability to read and interpret plans schedules and other specifications.
- Written and verbal communication problemsolving and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of software including MS Teams MS Word MS Excel Adobe Acrobat ProjectTeam Primavera MS Project and any other software programs typically utilized.
- Ability to maintain a valid drivers license.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fastpaced work environment.
- Ability to walk and climb stairs or ladders on a daily basis to observe and inspect contract performance.
- Prior experience working with Federal Government Project Managers/CORs on processing change orders requests for information submittals and field observation reports.
