About ANMAC:
ANMAC is appointed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as the external accreditation entity to exercise specific functions on their behalf in accordance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (the National Law) S431a).
The National Law is the legislative instrument used to implement Australias National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS). The functions that ANMAC undertakes include:
- developing accreditation standards for approval by the National Board s42a)
- assessing programs of study and the education providers that provide the programs of study to determine whether the programs meet approved accreditation standards s 42b
- making recommendations and giving advice to the National Board about the above matters s 42e.
At time of writing there are 176 ANMACaccredited programs delivered by 106 education providers across the Higher Education and VET sectors.
ANMAC is also the approved independent assessing authority authorised by the Department of Home Affairs to assess the skills of nurses and midwives who are seeking to migrate to Australia under the Australian Governments General Skilled Migration program. ANMACs Skilled Migrations Services undertakes the following functions:
- assessing the skills of nurses and midwives for general migration purposes
- assessing internationally qualified nurses and midwives seeking to work in Australia under the General Skilled Migration program
- providing relevant organisations with advice on matters relating to skilled migration of nurses and midwives.
In mid2023 under agreement with the Department of Home Affairs ANMAC has also commenced Assessments of Nursing Support Workers and Personal Care Assistants as part of the Aged Care Labour Agreement.

In this newly created role you will bring your specialist expertise to the development of a range of discussion and position papers projects and activities that enhance the role of ANMAC as vocal thought leaders on all matters related to the sector.
You will provide an analysis synthesis and evidencebased recommendations that support the advancement of the Nursing and Midwifery profession and you will oversee the development of ANMACs information hub which will provide information and resources to education providers and the profession more broadly.
To be successful in this role you will have a sound knowledge of or experience in the profession. You will be known for your effective communication (oral and written) and project management skills as well as your ability to interact and work with a diverse range of stakeholders whilst having an unwavering eye for detail. You may have applied these skills within industry bodies government research academia and/or consulting.
This is a fixed term contract with potential start date in January 2024.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Research analyse and develop discussion and position papers on all matters related to Nursing and Midwifery concerning standards accreditation and skilled migration.
- Oversee any new research projects in collaboration with ANMAC staff.
- Facilitate the consolidation and sharing of information of benefit to ANMAC stakeholders in the areas of accreditation and skilled migration through the development of the information hub.
- Provide leadership to staff including motivation training and mentorship.
- Engage with key stakeholders and partners.

- Provide support to answer emerging policy and standards questions quickly and accurately as required.
- Adapt to changing priorities and requirements at short notice.
- Promote and demonstrate ANMACS Values.
- Take reasonable care of your own health safety and wellbeing ensuring conduct does not adversely affect others and complying with work health and safety legislation and instruction including all ANMAC policies and procedures.
- Other duties as required from time to time.
Selection Criteria Qualifications Skills and Experience:
- Postgraduate tertiary degree in Nursing and/or Midwifery and 8 years experience gained in evaluation / social research/ policy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop policy and position papers and thought leadership pieces and respond to consultations and reports.
- Demonstrated effective planning management and leadership skills within a highprofile environment.
- Ability to work effectively establish priorities and manage competing deadlines for self and others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in project management including planning and reporting.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and to act with diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
- Proven expertise in information technology relevant to the role such as Microsoft 365 research and statistical packages and artificial intelligence tools
