- Provides management guidance to staff
- Consults advises and coordinates with representatives of federal state and local officials and departments as well as private engineering consultants and firms
The maximum salary for the Coastal Resources Assistant Administrator position is $135096 annually.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above:
A bachelors degree in one of the following fields: biological sciences physical sciences earth sciences environmental sciences natural sciences engineering or a related field plus five years of experience in coastal resource management wetland resource management environmental science natural resource management or biology; OR
A masters degree in biological sciences physical sciences earth sciences environmental sciences natural sciences engineering or a related field plus four years of experience in coastal resource management wetland resource management environmental science natural resource management or biology; OR
A Ph.D. in biological sciences physical sciences earth sciences environmental sciences natural sciences engineering or a related field plus three years of experience in coastal resource management wetland resource management environmental science natural resource management or biology.
Job Concepts
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To manage major coastal programs and staff involved in regulatory and/or nonregulatory measures to create restore enhance protect and preserve the states coastal wetlands marshes flood plains and other natural resources and to provide hurricane flood protection measures vital to the states economy and/or the safety of its citizens (private public institutional industrial and governmental).
LEVEL OF WORK:
Assistant administrator.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Usually direct from a Coastal Resources Administrator but may receive supervision from an unclassified executive.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Generally direct over Coastal Resources Scientist Managers DCLs and Geologist but other subordinates may be acceptable with DSCS approval.
LOCATION OF WORK:
State agencies involved in coastal science activities.
JOB DISTINCTIONS:
Differs from Coastal Resources Scientist Manager by the presence of both program and staff management responsibilities as well as administrative responsibility over divisions sections or programs.
Differs from Coastal Resources Administrator by the absence of responsibility for determining broad Division policies and program objectives.

Coordinates the project management of all programs and projects to ensure projects remain on schedule and under budget.
Serves as team lead on assigned projects and functional supervises project personnel for assigned projects and provides guidance and direction on achieving project milestones and objectives.
Reviews and participates in the preparation of engineering reports and other project submittals as part of implementation.
Initiates negotiates and manages contractual agreements with other local state and federal agencies consulting firms and educational institutions.
Maintains continuous liaison and coordinates activities with other local state and federal agencies.
