Job Description

ABOUT THIS ROLE

Burlington Hydro Inc. (BHI) is seeking an Engineering Clerk to join our Engineering department. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering this role is responsible forproviding administrative support to the Engineering department. This role involves responding to both internal and external inquiries and preparing service orders related to Hydro services for installation maintenance relocation and removal of equipment. This position requires a detailoriented approach strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

This is an onsite position at 1340 Brant Street Burlington and is a unionized role governed by the collective agreement. Eligible employees may participate in our Hybrid Work from Home Program which allows for remote work one 1 day per week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process orders pertaining to hydro services and Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) notification permits
  • Communicate with residential and commercial customers builders electrical builders contractors ESA inspectors cable installers and internal departments
  • Provide administrative and clerical duties for the Engineering/Operations department
  • Verify invoice accuracy and make necessary revisions
  • Retrieve and input data into systems such as CIS Service Installation Program GIS Mapping System
  • Summarize and submit Engineering statistics for Ontario Energy Board (OEB)
  • Schedule appointments for Engineering Services Technicians and coordinate disconnect/reconnect orders for the Operations department
  • Process demolition prepermits clearance appointments
  • Provide backup support for other positions within the department as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 35 years of administrative/clerical experience
  • Postsecondary diploma in business/office administration or equivalent experience

WHAT YOULL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

  • Strong communication interpersonal administrative mathematical and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and other relevant computer programs
  • Experience using and navigating standard office equipment and fieldspecific software (e.g. GIS/JOMAR/iXP)
  • Knowledge of locate procedures and applicable laws codes and regulations
  • Understanding of organizational practices as applied to the analysis/application of programs policies collective agreements and operational needs
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build strong relationships resolve issues efficiently and provide effective support
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and work effectively in changing or ambiguous environments
  • Team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn
  • Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to maintain composure in all situations
  • Effective communicator who fosters a safe respectful and professional workplace
