Job Description
Position Overview:
Were a leading global fitness company seeking a talented and passionate Director of Embedded Software Engineering to lead our GUI Embedded Software development and Product Owner teams. A solid understanding of both agile and waterfall development processes and their application is essential as well as demonstrated experience working across global crossfunctional teams (such as product development product management hardware engineering web development UI/UX quality validation technical service and 3rd party partners) to achieve business goals. The successful candidate will have expertise in the product owner role while understanding technical code requirements along with proven experience in team leadership systems and process implementation and adherence thirdparty apps and certifications business management and delighting customers. This is a supervisory position.
Responsibilities:
Develop mentor manage and lead NA and offshore based (multilocation) embedded software development and product owner teams
Work to identify resource talent process validation and opportunity gaps and implement mitigation
Set and manage embedded software development plan and resources support product management roadmap
Establish implement and update processes workflows and codebases to meet customer needs optimize team efficiency meet business requirements
Partner with design quality assurance for testing and validation
Partner with web development to manage and optimize system expenses
Partner with internal and external entities as needed to accomplish goals
Architect create and enforce code standards and development best practices
Lead meetings and coordinate with other functional leaders; represent embedded software R&D team its projects and deliverables
Stay current on 3rd party apps and certifications manage systems and development to streamline certification processes
R&Dasoneteam method for all development testing and customer/enduser support; enduser perspective to quality and solutioning
Noexcuse approach in working alongside all global web development design quality assurance hardware factory manufacturing and related development teams
Peertopeer leadership knowledge sharing and implement integrated development practices with global product development teams and factories
Other projects as assigned
Education:
Fouryear degree in computer science computer engineering or related technical field
Wellqualified candidates will possess an advanced degree
Technical Experience:
Thorough experience in the product owner role developing software products
Demonstrable experience with objectoriented programming in a language such as C C# or Java; UI based application development; scripting languages such as Python or Javascript
Demonstrable experience with builtin and integration unit testing writing or editing technical documentation
Possess a working knowledge of MCU and ARM Embedded System Development
Ability to create and enforce corporate code standards and review code where necessary
Deep understanding of agile and waterfall development processes and their application to customerfacing manufactured goods (product development hardware firmware etc)
Management & Leadership Experience:
10 years of experience supervising staff and managing software development and product owner teams
Demonstrated experience in working across departments to achieve company goals; influencing senior management; leading and working in scrum/agile and waterfall teams
A passion for delivering efficient solutions and exceeding customer expectations
Other Requirements:
Ability and willingness to travel internationally. Approximately 4 trips to Asia per year with one each quarter.
Communication with globally based development teams during nonstandard business hours
