Schedule Weekly Hours:
36We are looking to add a Medical Laboratory Scientist Medical Technologist Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Laboratory Technician to our Microbiology laboratory team. ASCP Certification not required!
What Youll Do:
The Medical Laboratory Scientist demonstrates competency with the full scope of laboratory procedures chemical microscopic bacteriologic molecular and transfusion medicine. Analyzes information monitors quality performance and takes action to ensure the efficient delivery of accurate and timely laboratory test results and services. Understands the requirements and standards of regulating agencies and ensures compliance within the laboratory. Delegates and provides clinical laboratory expertise for Medical Technicians and support staff within the laboratory and provides technical expertise in a manner that promotes collaboration with internal and external customers. Actively seeks education opportunities to learn and stay current in information relevant to the section(s) and participates in initiatives to advance department strategic goals and key operating strategies for the organization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform routine microbiology and some molecular testing
Responsible for conducting examinations on specimens collected from patients for bacterial viral protozoan and fungal infections
Isolate and make cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms in prescribed media controlling moisture aeration temperature and nutrition
Examine physiological morphological and cultural characteristics using a microscope to identify and classify microorganisms in human specimens
Identify and isolate infectious diseasecausing organisms
Perform a full range of laboratory tests from simple blood tests to more complex tests
Recognize unusual antimicrobial susceptibility results and troubleshoot the issue
Whats Available:
Fulltime 72 hours biweekly 0.9 FTE)
Day shifts (start between 4a8:30a) with occasional evening shift 2p10:30p) and every third weekend rotation
Starting pay of $28.48/hr and up based on your years of experience
8 & 80: paid time and onehalf the regular rate for all hours worked over eight in any workday and eighty hours in the fourteenday period.
What Youll Need:
Associates or Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Technology Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
Proficiency in laboratory techniques including microbiology specimen processing and analysis
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory procedures
Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision
Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues
ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certification preferred but not required
