Description and Functions
- Open Until FilledGENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Boys School (WBS) is a secure facility providing adjudicated delinquent males ages 1221 with opportunities to make changes in their lives. Staff members provide supportive services focusing on psychological/emotional stability educational and physical development and mental health therapies. Programs are specifically designed for youth to learn socially responsible values and life skills restructure their critical thinking and prepare for a successful transition back to their families and communities. Yearround position qualifying and working with students identified by Title I in the classroom setting and oneonone tutoring in Reading Written Language and Math.The State of Wyomings total compensation package is excellent and includes:

Worland is located within the Big Horn Basin along the Big Horn River in beautiful Northwestern Wyoming. Worland has easy access to the Big Horn Mountains to the west and the Wind River Mountains to the south including the Wind River Canyon.
Human Resource Contact: Judie Petersen orESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function which may be performed in the job level.- Plans & creates a curriculum to help students address GED.
- Manages and interacts with students in a classroom setting.
- Tutors students with oneonone assistance in academic needs.
- Assists Certified Teachers with classroom supervision and individualized instruction.
- Corrects tests and workbook papers and scores tests.
- Facilitates academic pre and posttest achievement.
- Types case histories documents minutes or other recorded narratives from the handwritten copy.
- Observes behavior of institution resident and reports this too and discusses this with a supervisor or in unit meetings in accordance with the goals and objectives of a therapeutic program.
- Surveys students on the playground to help prevent accidents.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference will be given to applicants with an Associates Degree PLUS one year of work experience in education.KNOWLEDGE:- Knowledge of the General Education Development content areas and language arts.
- Knowledge of mathematics literature social studies history and sciences.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures established for the work system acquired on the job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education:Associates Degree (typically in Education)Experience:01 year of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction)OREducation & ExperienceSubstitution:24 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction)Certificates Licenses Registrations:NoneNecessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:- Must complete all mandatory State of Wyoming and Wyoming Boys School training.
NOTES:- FLSA:nonexempt
- The position includes the full state benefits package.
- A background check including the taking of fingerprints will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation the Department of Family Services and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant.
