About the role

We are seeking a Registered Psychologist with experience and interest in disability to join our Darwin team on a Permanent Parttime basis (option to engage on a casual basis is also available). Supporting our Darwin multidisciplinary team this role is focused around delivering targeted and shortterm psychological interventions to children adolescents families and carers (including those from culturally and linguistically diverse populations).

As an organisation we deliver a multidisciplinary therapy servicetopaediatric and adult participants and their families and carers. We are an established team who have a strong focus on providing the best therapy to our participants in the evolving space of the NDIS.

At Patches we primarily see participants with NDIS funding and the impact of mental health on function is an important focus as is evidencebased practice and a parentchild relational model.

For therapists wanting to learn we have a range of highly experienced occupational therapy and speech pathology clinicians on our team who you can work alongside in a multidisciplinary team. This is valued in the disability sector as often our participants have difficulty with function in multiple areas and multidisciplinary work is required.

Given our national footprint we also support learning opportunities via monthly online professional development with other Psychologists at Patches who work interstate. Our future goal is to grow our local Darwinbased Psychology capabilities and this would be a fantastic opportunity for someone keen to support this strategy.

About Darwin

A typical day in the role may look like

  • Provide facetoface or Telehealth services to our participants from our Darwin office.
  • Work primarily with a paediatric caseload (children and adolescents) providing support to carers and families.
  • In addition to the above you will provide Psychology services to our participants in their homes schools or community centres within the Darwin metropolitan and/or regional area.
  • Regular multidisciplinary meetings with other Patches disciplines to optimise holistic care and multidisciplinary goal setting for participants.
  • Complete relevant nonfacetoface work including writing progress notes resource preparation and report writing.
  • Support from fellow Psychologist colleagues interstate.
  • Patches prioritises evidencebased practice and a parentchild relational model.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant professional registration as a Registered Psychologist
  • Preferred experience and knowledge of the disability sector particularly working within the NDIS.
  • Experience working with a paediatric and/or youth background including practical knowledge of current developmental assessments tools and intervention.
  • National Police Clearance
  • Working with Children Check NT
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
  • Australian Drivers License
  • Proof of Work rights (Australian Passport/ Citizenship certificate or a Valid Visa)
  • Medicare provider number
