Job Description Chronicle Heritage is seeking a Staff Architectural Historian who can assist in research and writing tasks on moderate to complex archival research windshield and reconnaissance surveys and can prepare built environment assessments and reports. The OnCall Staff Architectural Historian will lead reconnaissance to inventorylevel surveys and assist with efforts to identify and document buildings structuresobjects districts and historic landscapes. They may also assist with developing National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) and local register significance evaluations and assessments of effect. The ideal candidate will have experience in a variety of areas including: - Leading smallscale historic properties surveys
- Photographing and documenting buildings
- Determinations of Eligibility
- NRHP Nominations
- Conducting archival research
- Assisting in writing historic contexts
- Understanding of relevant architectural styles
- Working in remote areas
Hire Type: Hourly asneeded Schedule:Project dependent; periodic weekend work expected Location:Utah Texas Wyoming Oregon New Mexico Arizona Florida Michigan Wisconsin and Virginia. Required Qualifications - Bachelors degree in history architectural history historic preservation public history heritage conservation history or a closely related field.
- Experience with the history architecture and infrastructure of the relevant regions
- Ability to conduct pedestrian surveys including walking in rough terrain and challenging weather in various locations.
- Must demonstrate excellent attention to detail a positive work ethic and attitude reliability and commitment to working both independently and in a team environment.
- A valid U.S. drivers license is required at the time of employment.
Preferred Qualifications - Masters degree in architectural history historic preservation public history heritage conservation history or a closely related field
- Meet or exceeds the SOI Standards for Architectural History
- 1 years of professional experience as an Architectural Historian
Preferred Skills - Strong verbal and written communication and time management skills
- Excellent problemsolving skills
- Fluency in Microsoft Office Software (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat
- Familiarity with ESRI Survey123 and iOS software
