We are looking to add a Senior AI&T Test Engineer II to our team. If you are excited about working in a startup environment have a strong work ethic and are passionate about cuttingedge electronics we would like to hear from you.
In this position you will work closely with Cesium design engineers to create subsystem & spacecraft functional and performance test setups develop and execute test procedures design deploy and operate test systems data capture and analysis tools. You will have the opportunity to use and maintain stateoftheart spacecraft lab instrumentation such as spectrum analyzers automated power supplies a thermal cycling chamber thermal vacuum chamber large scale vibration test table and EMI / EMC chamber. This role will involve design verification and qualification for spacecraft payloads and subsystems. You will be challenged to propose and implement intricate test setups to increase productivity maintain safe operating conditions and reliably generate test results.
This role involves the test and handling of space flight hardware. This includes unique fastener types materials cleanliness standards and electronics sensitive to electrostatic discharge. As such familiarity with space flight hardware at a final level of assembly (subsystems payloads or spacecraft) is highly preferred. This role will also lead the development and implementation of test solutions and automation including interfacing with control systems and leading the development of test automation scripts. Experience with active phased arrays and RF circuitry including the performance and safety considerations associated with this equipment is a plus.
As a small company the Cesium team wears many hats. Candidates should be comfortable with a varied workflow that may involve multitasking between test setup creation test lab organization and other related tasks.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop implement and execute test automation and postprocessing scripts.
    • Design develop and implement test configurations and support in situ troubleshooting as required.
    • Create clean intricate and welldocumented test setups consisting of instrumentation cabling and the devices under test.
    • Create thorough documentation with meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of quality.
    • Assemble & validate custom test fixtures cable harnesses etc. for supporting test station development for production and product validation.
    • Perform measurement validation on test solutions to validate the performance of the instruments cabling etc.
    • Support design engineers in unit verification tests in planning and getwell planning in the event it is required.
    • Work with the Production Supply Chain and Assembly Integration & Test (AI&T) teams to maintain facilities equipment functionality and calibration of tools and equipment.
    • Support the development of test plans procedures and reports.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • A Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or similar from an accredited university.
    • A minimum of 6 years of industry or university research experience in design analysis and implementation of electronic products and/or test systems.
    • Experience working with environmental test equipment.
    • Experience working with active electronics.
    • Experience operating control systems for various types of Electronic Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) as well as control systems essential to operating environmental test equipment.
    • Ability to author read and troubleshoot scripts in languages such as Ruby Python OpenC3 COSMOS or similar C2 systems.
    • Ability to read and understand schematics as well as mechanical assembly documentation.
    • Experience working in a safety critical environment with industrial lifting & handling equipment and with hazardous materials.
    • Experience managing and mitigating the presence of Foreign Object Debris (FOD).
    • Ability to create documentation in support build and release of test solutions.
    • Ability to assess compliance and required solutions for unit level design verification activities including providing concise and actionable feedback to design engineers.
    • Handson experience with lab instruments such as spectrum analyzers RF signal. generators and vector signal analyzers DMMs Oscilloscopes etc.
    • Strong organization skills.
    • Comfortable with collaboration tools such as MS Teams Confluence and Jira.
    • Must be handson and resourceful possess a strong work ethic and be attentive to current and future customer requirements both internal and external. The individual must have the intellect and team skills to work among capable resultsoriented peers.
    • Ability to work well under deadlines.
    • Strong digital written and verbal communication skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

    • Experience in aerospace qualification to SMCS016 and / or NASA GEVS (GSFCSTD7000.
    • Technical proficiency with analog and digital electronic/electrical principles.
    • Experience with test automation and data processing such as MATLAB SQL (any variants) or Neo4j.
