Position Title (Classification Title):Assistant Dean Student Affairs 106100Working Title:Asst. Dean for Student Rights and ResponsibilitiesJob Summary:

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean the Assistant Dean of Students for the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) coordinates the adjudication and resolution of all student academic and nonacademic misconduct. The Assistant Dean coordinates the development implementation and interpretation of policies and rules governing all University students under the University Student Code of Conduct and is responsible for ensuring a consistent and fair process of administering the Student Code of Conduct and Student Code of Academic Conduct.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates adjudication and resolution of all student academic and nonacademic misconduct.
Coordinates the development implementation and interpretation of policies and rules governing all University student behavior and ensures consistent and fair processes.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean provides training and consultation for all areas of University conduct involving students.
Coordinates the University conduct process by managing reports gathering case information and conducting investigations conducting educational and administrative conferences coordinating hearing boards and ensuring compliance with conduct timelines and proceedings.
Implements best practices related to student conduct including the development and assessment of effective educational sanctions.
Ensures compliance with federal state local laws and ordinances; remains current regarding legal issues and implications for campus conduct processes (e.g. Title IX Student Organizations Residence Life Fraternity and Sorority Life).
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean consults with faculty and staff maintains records and databases develops assessment plans and reports and ensures compliance with records retention policies.
Assists the Associate Dean in the training and development of those that play a role in the academic and nonacademic misconduct processes including Housing and Residence Life staff faculty and all Student Conduct Hearing Board members.

Performs liaison activities among functional areas and other departments.
Proactively educates the campus community on prevention efforts related to academic and nonacademic misconduct and risk management topics such as hazing and sexual misconduct.
Responds to student parent & family faculty and staff inquiries questions and concerns regarding nonacademic and academic conduct.
Coordinates the Admission Clearance and Dean Certifications processes.
Serves as the Maxient Database Administrator for the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs.
Assists with the completion of the annual Clery Act Report and the Campus Biennial Report.
Participates on departmental divisional and campuswide committees and workgroups.
Serves in a 24hour oncall duty rotation responding to crisis as necessary; assists the Dean of Students team and other campus administrators with crisis planning and implementation in the event of campus emergencies including the staffing of student hurricane shelters.
Serves as a member of the Dean of Students Office leadership team representing the Dean of Students Office at campus events on and offcampus as needed.
Performs risk management functions at campus events as needed including monitoring student behavior within the student tailgate area at home football games.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Three years of postgraduate experience with at least two working with student conduct programs in a university setting
Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Clery Act Title IX VAWA and other applicable federal/state guidelines and laws that affect the practice of student conduct administration
A record of increasingly complex work responsibilityPreferred Qualifications Experience working with Maxient Software
Experience recruiting training hiring developing and supervising graduate and fulltime professional staff
Experience training Student Conduct Hearing Boards
