This camp puts a new spin on the traditional day camp. At The PAC kids decide how to spend their day! They can choose between their favorite activities like group games skating at the on site skatepark playing table games and cool art projects as well as opportunities to try new things during off campus fieldtrips.


Operation Recreation 59yrs old)

Create that first time camp experience and memories that will last a lifetime. Sing silly camp songs tell epic stories and share the summer camp magic with our younger campers. BPRD is looking for a qualified individual to run one of our Operation Recreation summer camp sites this summer. From field trips park days riding bikes and water play you will have a summer full of memories yourself.


About the job:

Provide leadership for assigned youth recreation program while also serving in a frontline lead role providing safe and rewarding recreational opportunities for youth in the community. As the field trip lead you will oversee field trip staff plan schedule and communicate out weekly field trips be responsible for the safety and success of multiple field trips each day work to maintain equipment be a main point of contact and any other duties as assigned.


A day in the life:

  • Supervise assigned youth recreation programs and participants staff and volunteers. Oversee the safety of participants in youth programs.
  • Provides leadership expertise and support to assigned staff which may include training mentoring directing and assigning work. May assist Supervisor in hiring and evaluating staff.
  • Plan organize implement and supervise activities designed to be developmentally appropriate and build skills.
  • Communicate on a regular basis with facility staff customer service and supervisors
  • Identify and direct needed staff and equipment.
  • Perform program specific planning and evaluation within broad goals and guidelines.
  • Train mentor set goals with and evaluate staff.
  • Address program specific risk management issues.
  • Interact with the youth through crafts games and other planned activities.
  • Facilitate inclusion of special needs participants in your program.
  • Manage accidents and incidents according to procedures
  • Complete required reports/paperwork.
  • Monitor program expenditures to ensure spending is in line with budget.
  • Oversee general upkeep and care of equipment supplies and facilities used.
  • Attend supervisory and planning meetings
  • Communicate on a regular basis with patrons participants parent/guardians community partners regarding questions concerns and emerging issues.
  • Report incidents of Child Abuse/Neglect observed by you or reported to you by a child.
  • Perform duties of a Recreation 1 and 2 role modeling exemplary performance.

Training Schedule and Hours:
The PAC:

Program Duration: June 16Aug. 22

Mandatory Training Dates: June 17 9am12 pm June 18 9 am12 pm and June 20 94 pm

Schedule: Program hours are 7:155:45 pm typical schedules are 8:304:30 pm MondayFriday 40hrs a week. But may be adjusted to meet business needs.


Operation Recreation:

Program Duration: June 23Aug. 22

Mandatory Training Dates: June 16 10 am5 pm June 18 1012 PM and/or 13 PM) June 20 9 am12 pm

Schedule: 40hrs per week 8:305:30 pm MondayFriday

Education Experience and Training:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; college courses in related field preferred; AND
  2. One 1 year of experience in area of responsibility and/or performing similar tasks; OR
  3. Any satisfactory combination of education experience and training.


Position Specific Requirement

This position may require reporting to additional sites throughout the workday typically achieved in a motor vehicle OR other modes of transportation. If choosing a personal vehicle possession of or ability to obtain valid Oregon drivers license within 30 days with an acceptable driving history as defined by district driving policy.

If you do not have a drivers license or have an unacceptable driving history it does not disqualify you from this position only from driving a vehicle for district business.


Working Conditions:

Duties may be performed either indoors or outdoors which may include working in extreme weather conditions. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Physical exertion includes frequent walking bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted pushing pulling and kneeling in order to deliver and set up equipment and supplies. Nature of the position is physically demanding and stressful requiring constant safety awareness and attending to a wide variety of participant needs with periods of continuous demand.
