A Flagger plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of motorists pedestrians and work crews in construction and maintenance zones. Flaggers are responsible for directing traffic following safety protocols and maintaining smooth traffic flow in compliance with state and local regulations. They must remain vigilant proactive and adaptable to changing conditions while maintaining professionalism and courtesy even in highstress situations. Flaggers must maintain a safe and friendly environment in accordance with AAA Parking policies.

Responsibilities

  • Direct traffic in and around construction sites using signs hand signals and verbal communication.
  • Maintain constant communication with other flaggers and work crews to coordinate traffic flow effectively.
  • Monitor road conditions and traffic patterns adjusting traffic control measures as necessary.
  • Set up and take down traffic control signs cones and barricades in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies hazards or unexpected traffic changes to ensure public and worker safety.
  • Assist motorists with directions and provide clear information about detours or lane closures.
  • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor even when dealing with frustrated or impatient drivers.
  • Follow all company and legal safety guidelines to minimize risks and prevent accidents.
  • Conduct regular inspections of traffic control equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Work closely with supervisors and other team members to improve safety and efficiency on job sites.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Strong situational awareness and the ability to react quickly to potential hazards.
  • Excellent communication skills to relay information effectively to coworkers and motorists.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in fastpaced environments.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods lift and carry traffic control equipment and work in challenging conditions.
  • Knowledge of traffic control procedures road safety regulations and accident prevention strategies.
  • Basic math reading and writing skills for following work instructions and documenting incidents.
  • Ability to differentiate colors for interpreting traffic signals and signage.
  • Experience using mobile radios or telecommunication devices to communicate with teams.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including early mornings evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • No visible offensive face or neck tattoos

Work Environment

  • Outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions including extreme heat cold rain and snow.
  • Physically demanding tasks such as lifting bending and standing for prolonged periods.
  • Exposure to hightraffic areas and potential roadside hazards.
