Job Description

Atlantic Packaging is currently hiring a Structural Designers to work out of the Brampton and Ingersoll locations. Reporting to the Design Manager the Structural Designer is responsible for drawing and producing prototype designs/displays samples based on customer specifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to design inquiries from customers sales and customer service personnel
  • Attend Q.W.G.s and safety meetings.
  • Record all completed jobs on your weekly log sheet.
  • Look to improve and or create designs that are what the customer wants production approved and cost effective while keeping sustainability in mind. Should be able to create a design with any level of difficulty in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Create designs that meet the retail stores specifications. Retail Ready.
  • Coordinate lab tests whenever necessary to ensure the design wont fail at retail
  • Create pallet utilization reports Capes) for our customers estimators and production teams
  • Ensure s generated off sample table is put into the appropriate area either for storage and use later or into the recycling bins
  • Help put away sample board when it comes in.
  • File away design requests
  • Keep the design area clean and organized
  • Is aware of the automated movement of the sample table and its related safety systems
  • Work safely reporting hazards and unsafe conditions and taking all reasonable measures to protect themselves and their coworkers
  • Use and or wear personal protective equipment that the company requires to be used or worn
  • Work in compliance with the responsibilities as outlined in the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Industrial Regulations and with the Companys safe practices and procedures
  • Present a professional image while in client contact
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in packaging design
  • Good communication skills written and verbally.
  • Work in both imperial and metric measurements.
  • Knowledge of Artios Cad
  • Experience in operating Kongsberg table
  • Knowledge of corrugated package allowances
  • Knowledge of CAPE packaging data sheet program
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Illustrator photoshop Acrobat 3D software power point and excel would be an asset.
  • Understanding of machine capabilities and limitations; excellent analytical skills; ability to work with minimum supervision
