The Opportunity
The Mechanical Engineering Department at EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University Daytona Beach is inviting applicants for a nontenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This positions expected start date is August 2025.
This is a teachingfocused position with a general expectation of teaching 4 sections per semester in the fall and spring semesters plus optional summer courses and moderate service. This position has no research expectations although opportunities for research may exist. Nontenure track faculty members at EmbryRiddle are eligible for future promotion based on job performance and length of service.
The successful candidate will have a strong desire to focus on innovative and highquality instruction in a collegial and collaborative environment and will hold an earned PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates with prior teaching and/or industrial experience are encouraged to apply. An interest in and experience with advising student project teams is highly desirable.
Candidates are expected to be capable of teaching a variety of undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering and engineering sciences. Course sections typically range from 1540 students. Particular areas of interest include: dynamics machine design vibrations vehicle dynamics and capstone design.

This position requires physical presence at the Daytona Beach Campus. Relocation to the Daytona Beach FL area is required; applicants seeking purely remote work will not be considered. Relocation assistance may be available.
About the Mechanical Engineering Department:
The Mechanical Engineering Department at EmbryRiddle Aeronautical University Daytona Beach serves over 500 students at the BS MS and PhD levels. The department features undergraduate tracks in HighPerformance Vehicles Robotics & Autonomous Systems Energy Systems and Biomedical Systems. The ME department places a heavy emphasis on experiential education and sponsors a wide variety of student projects including Formula SAE Baja SAE Solar District Cup EcoCAR RobotX IGVC SUAS RoboBoat and RoboSub. The department also has a strong profile in applied research in areas such as robotics and autonomous systems energy systems advanced powertrains and biomedical. The department has a stable faculty and offers a positive collegial and collaborative work environment.
