We are looking for a 2ndshift Shop Supervisorto join the team.This position will be responsible for driving Nova Seal & Shelter production and growth on the 2nd shift 3:15 p.m. 1:15 a.m. while ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration with the 1st shift. Internally this position is responsible for driving operations of Seals & Shelters to be sold by Nova Technology managing the cost of materials and labor. Externally this position is responsible for delighting our customers with ontime delivery of highquality products. This position has direct responsibility for Operational safety efficiency and productivity and indirect responsibility for P&L as it relates to the Seal & Shelter Business.
Key responsibilities include:- Assist the Production Manager in scheduling production by sales orders to meet customer requirements. The schedule may include first and secondshift operations.
- Compile job packets for the production floor.
- Issue change cancellation and rush orders.
- Ensure safety in the plant at all times and in every operation.
- Operate production and manage production personnel at high levels of productivity and efficiency.
- Lead employees to carry out assigned tasks.
- Develop and coach employees to higher levels of performance.
- Analyze and problemsolve daytoday issues on the production floor.
- Lead production team meetings.
- Work Saturday overtime as required.
- Train personnel in various production processes.
- Coordinate procurement of materials and supplies required for Seals & Shelters with the Supply Chain Team.
- Ensure proper inventory control including performing cycle counting materials.
- Develop metrics for monitoring departmental performance.
- Ensure the highest level of quality of every product produced.
- Schedule shipment of completed orders.
- Coordinate with Sales for the timely production and shipment of customer orders.
- Schedule maintenance and repair of equipment on time.
- Conduct production time studies.
- Utilize manufacturing software.
- Create job packets and assign work orders to production.
- Staff the operation with appropriate headcount and talent and provide training and coaching as required.
- Collaborate with Production Manager & Sales Manager to create New Products based on customer input.
- Duties may include:
- Assist in developing new products and enhancing current products
- Create prototypes of new product ideas
- May require travel to the customers site
- Evaluate the manufacturability of new products
- Provide Production leadership/management including assisting the Production Manager in longrange production planning creating and achieving annual production objectives yearly business planning/budgeting and establishment of projects and initiatives to achieve Seals & Shelter production objectives.
- Track document and report production output and shipments daily.
- Assist the Production Manager as requested to create product builds and document costs.
- Assist Production Manager on all aspects of costing including:
- Determine product cost using a costed bill of materials.
- Monitor and improve purchasing of materials through competitive pricing for quality materials.
- Monitor costs and establish and implement plans for the continuous improvement of buy practices to reduce the inventory without affecting the ability to serve our customers
- Promote and maintain a culture and environment of continuous improvement based on comprehensive development and of Lean business practices.
- Establish growth/improvement goals and objectives along with all relevant key performance indicators.
- Ensure followthrough on action planning to meet established goals.
- Work closely with the Production Manager and other functional groups (HR Sales Finance Engineering) to achieve overall business objectives.
- Strong focus on moral leadership constructive competitiveness self/employee development and accountability.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- Bachelors degree from a fouryear college or university in Industrial Engineering Supply Chain Management or Business preferred; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in computer software: MS Excel Word.
- Must be selfdirected detailoriented and possess excellent communication and computer skills.
- Must demonstrate initiative and have the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Demonstrate the ability to work with no supervision show great attention to detail and demonstrate strong accuracy and accountability skills.
- Ability to prioritize work effectively meet deadlines and resolve conflicts with minimal supervision concerning assignments varying from routine to complex.
- Analyze synthesize and meaningfully communicate productionrelated information and data regularly.
