Overview: As part of our YMCA Youth Development Strategy and commitment to our JAIDE (Justice Access Inclusion Diversity and Equity) priorities the YMCA is seeking two passionate and dedicated Youth Workers to join our team and enhance belonging at our YMCA. 3 Focus Areas of work will be: 1 Mental Health & Wellness 2 Gender & Sexual Diversity & 3 AntiRacism & Cultural Diversity. This role is integral to fostering a welcoming environment where all youth and their families feel valued respected and empowered. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to social justice experience working with diverse populations speak multiple languages and can create and implement programs that promote positive mental wellness equity and belonging.

- Annually facilitate 5 10week MindFit programs for groups of 12 youth ages 1014 years.
- Liaise weekly with partner organizations to bring resources into Membership Centres.
- Work 12 YMCA Youth Nights per year providing youth resource wayfinding and enhancing access to information on community mental health services and supports.
- Annually host and/or provide 3 Leadership Programs for cohorts of 12 youth with a special emphasis on engagement of 2SLGBTQIA youth in safe spaces.
- Annually deliver Dating Safe Program to 24 participants.
- Annually host 5 YMCA Membership Information and Registration Nights for newcomer families.
- Provide language interpretation as required at orientations to all new programs for children youth and families.
- Facilitate monthly conversation circles for families and weekly English tutoring support for youth with ESL.
- Coordinate and deploy programming for historical events cultural celebrations or information nights specific to child & youth interests.
- Provide mentorship and support to youth helping them navigate challenges and build resilience.
- Collaborate with community organizations schools and other stakeholders to enhance DEI initiatives and resources.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs adjusting as needed to ensure they meet the needs of all participants.
- Advocate for the needs and voices of marginalized youth within the YMCA and the broader community.
- Maintain accurate records of program activities participant progress and outcomes.
- Participate in staff meetings training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in JAIDE and youth work.
Wed love to hear from people with:
- Bachelors degree in Social Work Education Psychology or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth preferably in a communitybased or educational setting.
- Knowledge of current issues and best practices related to DEI.
- Demonstrated commitment to DEI with experience developing and implementing related programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and build positive relationships with community partners.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Position details:
- 2 FT positions available. Immediate placement.
- Schedule: 3540 hours per week (flexible based on schedule and availability)
- Compensation: $22.80$25.78 dependent on education level certificates and experience benefits after 3month probationary period
- Start date: April 2025
