Job Description

Ohel is seeking a Certified PeerSpecialistto provide personcentered planning and delivery of services to older adults in their home. The Peer Specialist will have lived experience utilizing mental health. The Peer Specialist is responsible for mentoring individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders by providing supportive and skillsbuilding service with a rehabilitation and recovery focus. Peer Support uses nonclinical assistance to achieve longterm recovery from Mental Health issues.

The Certified Peer Specialist will provide facetoface services to assist connecting individuals to community based recovery supports consistent with their treatment plan. The Peer Specialist maintains accurate and update records in accordance with the programs policies and procedures. The candidate demonstrates organizational and communication skills which would enable effective interaction with fellow team members individuals/clients/families and the community.

Applicant must have knowledge of best practices of Motivational Interviewing WRAP etc. HS Diploma or GED required. Must be certified by OMH or OASAS as a Peer Specialist with experience of working with behavioral health population. This parttime position is based in Brooklyn and Staten Island.
