Description

Barts Electric is a full service electrical and special systems contractor which has built a reputation of reliability and service that sets us apart in the commercial electric industry. Barts Electric philosophy is summarized in the phrase We give the customer more service than they paid for. We have an opening for a Controller to join our accounting team in the Kansas City MO area.

The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for all accounts receivable accounts payable payroll financial statements budgets cash forecasts and file maintenance for applicable entities.
Results oriented handson professional with the ability to deal effectively and interact well with customers subcontractors/vendors and employees. Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Oversight of the Accounts Payable processes including:
• Audit of PO process
• Audit invoice entry to A/P system
• Processing of supplier payments
• Administering automatic payments
• Reconciliation of supplier statements
• Oversight of the Billing/Accounts Receivable processes including:
• Production monthly recurring billing
• Audit work order billing
• Application of customer payments
• Collections
• Bank reconciliations
• Prepare general ledger journal entries
• Preparation and analysis of monthly Financial Statements including reconciliation of all Balance Sheet Accounts
• Process intercompany billings
• Administration of corporate credit card charges
• Assist management in budgeting process
• Forecast weekly cash requirements
  
  Qualifications and Requirements:
• CPA desired but not required
• Proven background in commercial property maintenance construction management construction administration or a related field
• Minimum 5 years cost accounting experience including experience with job cost accounting
• Minimum of 2 years managerial experience in an accounting environment
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Work with Project Managers and Operations Team a plus
• Positive attitude and team player
• Highly organized with strong emphasis on selfmotivation and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with executive level external and internal clients
• Exceptional communication skills both oral and written
• Ability to identify and manage priorities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Capable of multitasking and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
• Exhibits highly developed ability to followup on multiple projects
• Exhibits confidence ambition selfmotivation and the ability to work independently
• Exhibits keen problem solving and listening skills
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including MS Excel
• Willingness to work in an office environment
