Along with our proprietary taskbased EFL curriculum we also provide our students with great excursions featuring some of the most popular historical and tourist destinations across the globe.

POSITION OVERVIEW
- Responsible for the planning and delivery of the academic program of EFL students
- Represent MLA values
- Reports to Director of Studies/Assistant Director of Studies
- 6 days per week (Monday to Saturday)
- Residential employment available from late June midAugust (Check dates above)
Teachers will deliver highquality and communicative EFL Task Based lessons as part of a teaching team. Lessons involve engaging students through a variety of activities to help them develop their skills and provide an environment that increases the use of the English language in lessons.
Working hours are variable and will be organised according to a rota in the centre. You will not be required to go on excursions activities or any pastoral care outside your teaching and admin hours on teaching days. However MLA programmes are hard work and you might exceptionally be requested to assist outside your working hours.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Must have a UK passport/right to work in the UK and a valid DBS (England & Wales) or PVG (Scotland). If youre based outside the UK also a Criminal Record Check form your country of residence
- Proven suitability to work with students under 18:at least 2 references.
- CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL qualification or a PGCE/QTS award related to YL/ESOL/English/Languages (or equivalent Ofqual recognised standards)
- Other TEFL Level 5 certificates or TEFL certificates proven observed experience considered
- A Level 6 degree or equivalent qualifications/experience
- AccessTEFL in progress (portfolio)
- Experience of Teaching EFL Classes (including teaching practice)
Desirable
- DELTA / Trinity DipTESOL / MA TESOL completed or in progress
- Masters Degree in ELT/TESOL (or related subjects)
- EFL experience teaching teenagers
- EFL Summer School Teaching experience in the UK
- Enhanced DBS/PVG registered on the Update Service
- First Aid Qualification

SCHEDULE
Residential contracts are based on up to 42 working hours over a 7day session with one day off per week. You will be expected to cover up to 36 contact teaching hours and up to 6 hours of meetings administrative duties and CPD sessions. However MLA programmes are hard work and you might exceptionally be requested to assist outside your working hours.
KEY POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Teaching
- Prepare your lessons with the aid of premade lesson plans and adapt them to your class composition
- Liaise with your coteacher(s)
- Teach EFL lessons at a range of levels indicated by the DoS
- Inspire and motivate students to improve their learning skills
- Differentiate student learning and scaffold learning to cater for mixed ability classes
- Provide a variety of teaching activities appropriate to student learning needs
- Support the work in the TASKtime book provided to help students achieve intended goals
- Be prepared to cover teach when necessary
- Assist with speaking level testing if required
- Coordinate with the DoS/ADoS to implement the British Experience into lessons if required and integrate extracurricular activities into EFL teaching
- Leave classrooms secure and tidy after use and return any borrowed equipment
- Participate and contribute to weekly CPD sessions
Administrative
- Complete attendance registers promptly and inform the DoS of any absent students.
- Mark and record progress marks as instructed in the induction and demonstrated in the teachers handbook
- Maintain complete uptodate records related to your teaching in appropriate detail e.g. lesson plans and work covered
- Prepare professional student reports free of typos and within agreed deadlines
- Liaise with your DoS to ensure the accuracy of student data
- Assist and support the completion of student feedback
Training & CPD
Complete all training courses and certificates during the MLA onboarding process prior to the commencement of your contract
Attend an incentre induction and take an active part in discussion and feedback
Read and understand MLA policies sent during the recruitment process
Adhere to the guidelines set out in your Handbook
Set your own developmental goals for you to work on during your time with MLA
Attend assist and take an active part in CPD sessions
Be open to feedback: all staff are observed in the first week of employment & have appraisals alongside goal setting tasks
Request guidance on and actively seek professional development to improve your teaching skills
Experienced teachers should be open to provide guidance and actively help peers seeking professional development
Equipment & Facilities
Take responsibility for maintaining teaching resources and premises are kept neatly
Report any damage to any classroom as soon as it is noticed
Safeguarding & Welfare
- Provide safety and welfare assistance to students.
- Be vigilant for possible welfare problems of students
- Inform your DoS of any absences from your class immediately
- Report any issues which may be affecting students safety wellbeing and academic performance
- Be aware of relevant fire health and safety issues in the classroom and around the centre
- Comply with all health and safety procedures at MLA
- Promoting the welfare of students and adhere to and comply with theMLA Safeguarding Policy
COMPENSATION
Residential from GBP 475 GBP 485 weekly
Holiday Pay 12.07 will be added to rates. Inclusive of holiday pay up to GBP 532 GBP 543 weekly

*Returning teachers will receive a bonus of GBP 150 after completing their full contract.*Please note that due to the logistics of the employment you may be required to move to another centre where extra staff are required.
