Senior Manager of Land Protection
Save the Redwoods League California

Save the Redwoods League seeks an experienced conservation professional who will help shape a future where Californias redwood forests are protected forever. Join our Protect team as we accelerate the pace of forest protection and build towards protection of redwood forests at a landscape scale.

Location: San Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco CA) or North Coast (McKinleyville CA)

About the Role

As Senior Manager youll lead complex land acquisition projects working with landowners partners and agencies to secure highpriority redwood properties and conservation easements. Youll collaborate across teams to develop funding strategies manage real estate transactions and advance conservation initiatives that support our mission.

Based on the skills and qualifications of the successful candidate in comparison to an internal equity review this role may be offered at the Land Protection Manager II level

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and manage land protection projects including conservation easements.
  • Oversee real estate transactions including funding strategies due diligence and closing.
  • Work with internal teams (legal finance development marketing) to support conservation efforts.
  • Represent the League in partnerships with land trusts government agencies and Indigenous groups.
  • Support fundraising efforts by identifying funding sources and assisting with grant proposals.

What Were Looking For

  • 7 years of experience in land conservation real estate transactions or land use planning.
  • Expertise in structuring land deals funding strategies and environmental due diligence.
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with California land conservation policies and funding programs.
  • Passion for forest conservation and ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Work Schedule:

Save the Redwoods League is operating under a adaptive hybrid work policy. League staff are required to work at a League office (San Francisco or McKinleyville) each Tuesday A second inperson day in the office or in the field with staff and/or partners is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

As a fulltime exempt employee you will be eligible for full benefits which includes but is not limited to medical dental and vision insurance 15 days of vacation annually plus holidays and a retirement with an up to 8 company match. We offer competitive salaries commensurate with experience internal and external equity considerations and location; the hiring range for this position is $115146k per year.
