Job Description
The Team
This position offers an exciting opportunity to be a part of a multidisplinary team that is pioneering a new path forward in the delivery of services for children impacted by abuse and neglect. While this position will work closely with dedicated child protection social workers and team leaders from various teams the position will be embedded at the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre located at 1815 Kirschner Road in Kelowna. The primary goal of the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is to provide an integrated one stop shop where children who have been abused in Kelowna and area can receive the necessary services in a child and youth centered environment with an onsite multidisciplinary team that includes RCMP MCFD Victim Services Advocates and Health Care Professionals. This integrated approach empowers frontline agencies to work together to improve outcomes and build resilience for children families and community.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in a seamless coordinated and collaborative approach to addressing the needs of children who are victims of abuse and their nonoffending family members. This position will work jointly and collaboratively with the RCMP to respond to and assess complex child protection reports that include severe physical abuse severe neglect and sexual abuse by a parent/caregiver. This position will also play a key role in mentoring child protection social workers and guiding them in delivering critical services to children youth and families. In this role you will also act as a liasion for the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and establish strong community partnerships to ensure that services meet the highest standards.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
1. Preferred Credentials:
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
- Inservice Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 2430 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
- A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ICES. You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
2. Expanded Credentials:
- Bachelors Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelors Degree witha Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Masters level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelors Degree.
- PLUS a minimum of one year of related OR jobspecific work experience.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- NOTE: If this education was obtained outside of Canada you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services ICES. You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.
Additional Experience Requirements:
- Experience mentoring and leading staff.
- Minimum of three 3 years of recent within the last five 5 years fully delegated child protection experience.
- Eligible for C6 delegation under the Child Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Applicants with preferred education credentials AND inservice Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 2430 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
- Bachelor or Master in Social Work or Bachelor or Master in Child and Youth Care or Master of Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare.
- Experience working collaboratively with a Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and/or police.
- Demonstrated experience in leadership (i.e. projects).
- Experience in policy and program development and implementation.
- Employee applicants who have a combination of relevant education Ministry experience and who are eligible for delegation under the Child Family and Community Service Act may be considered equivalent to the above requirements.
- Applicants who selfidentify as Indigenous with the required combination of education and experience.

- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Drivers License with no restriction or equivalent (i.e. from another Canadian Province).

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
