The Team
This position offers an exciting opportunity to be a part of a multidisplinary team that is pioneering a new path forward in the delivery of services for children impacted by abuse and neglect. While this position will work closely with dedicated child protection social workers and team leaders from various teams the position will be embedded at the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre located at 1815 Kirschner Road in Kelowna. The primary goal of the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre is to provide an integrated one stop shop where children who have been abused in Kelowna and area can receive the necessary services in a child and youth centered environment with an onsite multidisciplinary team that includes RCMP MCFD Victim Services Advocates and Health Care Professionals. This integrated approach empowers frontline agencies to work together to improve outcomes and build resilience for children families and community.

The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in a seamless coordinated and collaborative approach to addressing the needs of children who are victims of abuse and their nonoffending family members. This position will work jointly and collaboratively with the RCMP to respond to and assess complex child protection reports that include severe physical abuse severe neglect and sexual abuse by a parent/caregiver. This position will also play a key role in mentoring child protection social workers and guiding them in delivering critical services to children youth and families. In this role you will also act as a liasion for the Child & Youth Advocacy Centre and establish strong community partnerships to ensure that services meet the highest standards.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
1. Preferred Credentials:

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Masters Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
  • Inservice Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 2430 base position that requires delegation under the Child Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
  • A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

2. Expanded Credentials:

Human Services fields include: Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous Studies Education Theology or Nursing.

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
