Basic Function

Based out of Houston TX the Director Global Talent will lead the LyondellBasell Talent function. This position will lead the design and implementation of highimpact and sustainable talent performance management and engagement strategy and programs in support of LyondellBasells strategic goals. Eligible employees have the ability to work up to 3 days remote per week.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Director of Global Talent is a key leadership role responsible for developing and executing talent management strategies to identify develop and retain top talent within the organization:
Identifying and developing talent for the future

  • Define and implement a global talent strategy aligned with the business needs
  • Design and develop talent processes to assess potential and identify the future generation of leaders and technical talent
  • Develop succession planning methodologies career pathing and effective talent pipeline management
  • Partner with leadership to define targeted development plans for key talent which leverage our learning and development model
  • Use data driven analytics to measure key talent and diversity metrics and to make informed talent decisions
  • Partner and collaborate closely with Learning and DEI colleagues to successfully develop and deliver talent processes
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and encourage employees to take ownership of their career development

Leading performance management

  • Provide strategic direction on the development and implementation of effective continuous performance management processes aligned with the culture and values and resulting in a rewarding experience for employees
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide insights and recommendations to improve individual and team performance
  • Partner with Learning to ensure managers are equipped with the skills to coach and conduct effective performance conversations
  • Own the global performance management process and approach; lead HR colleagues globally through process
  • Lead the partnership with vendor(s) to identify and develop behavioral competencies aligned with our values and culture. Educate and embed competencies into the performance process.

Strengthening our culture and employee engagement

  • Create an enterprisewide listening strategy designed to measure and enhance the employee experience and culture
  • Set the direction and oversee the design and implementation of survey governance practices
  • Lead the development of employee surveys analyze results and develop enterprisewide action plans based on feedback
  • Identify predictive indicators and develop strategies to improve retention
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to address employee concerns and foster a positive work environment
  • Establish mechanisms to build manager capabilities in having a continuous open dialogue with employees

  • Effectively leading a team to develop and deliver on the strategic direction
  • Ability to influence across the enterprise effectively communicating to all levels of the organization
  • Effectively lead change and project management
  • Ability to effectively use data driven analysis and build a business case
  • Understand key business drivers and products in order to effectively partner with business leaders
  • Build solid relationships with business leaders and HRBPs to consult and execute talent strategy and engagement programs

Qualifications

  • Experience leading teams and crossfunctional projects
  • Strong leadership and judgment skills demonstrated ability to handle complex situations
  • Excellent verbal written and presentation skills consistent with a client group of Executives and Senior Leaders
  • Ability to influence without authority with a broad client base
  • Strong drive for results time management and high initiative to manage a diverse array of strategic and tactical items
  • Ability to work well independently as well as collaboratively; selfmotivated and disciplined to meet deadlines in the context of competing priorities and projects; lead and work effectively with crossfunctional teams
  • Experience working in a global organization building and optimizing a variety of programs across diverse teams and cultures
  • Highly creative and innovative; proven ability to conceptualize and communicate strategies ideas and business solutions utilizing data and analysis tools
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to work effectively both leading and as a team member and achieve results through the contributions of other people within and outside the immediate organization
  • Strong understanding of technology and systems and the connection of performance to reward
  • Excellent business partner; builds strong relationships within HR team and throughout the business through collaboration and establishing credibility
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office Word Excel and Power Point and Learning Management Systems; very systems savvy. Advanced PC skills including spreadsheets database graphics learning management systems SAP and other shared IT platforms
  • 10 years of progressive experience in HR roles preferably in the Talent Management and/or Learning Development areas
  • Ability to conduct needs assessments and skill gap analysis and create a business plan to successfully close identified skill gaps
  • Knowledge of current talent management technologies performance assessment and survey platforms
  • Thorough understanding of key performance indicators for a large multisite organization
  • Sound knowledge of benchmarking and processes
  • Experience in technical/organizational development
  • Some domestic and international travel necessary
  • Applicable bachelors degree in professional learning and development Education or equivalent experience
  • Masters Degree preferred
  • Experience in Petrochemicals and/or Oil & Gas industries
