Job Description

Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School seeks a creative Spanishspeaking educator to join a missiondriven studentcentered program grounded in the Ten Common Principles of the Coalition of Essential Schools. Our new colleague will serve as a member of the Spanish team designing instruction that motivates students to practice speaking the language with their classmates and acquire Spanish as one acquires their first language organically rather than through learning grammar rules. Spanish classes at Parker are immersion and proficiencybased and deskfree. Instruction includes play community building interaction with authentic resources and encouraging students to create with the language while pushing them to the next steps in proficiency. Students create portfolios of work and present their learning to show their readiness for promotion. Responsibilities include teaching four classes assessing students using rubrics close collaboration with colleagues and leading an advisory. Successful applicants will be able to facilitate their classes using 95 Spanish have an understanding of proficiencybased language instruction and the Ten Common Principles and will familiarize themselves with Parker through the website before applying www.theparkerschool.MA licensure and/or completion of a teacher training program strongly preferred but not required; all candidates must pass both the subject area and literacy MTEL exams; masters degree is preferred; citizenship residency or work visa is required.
