Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Golf and Grounds/Horticulture Seasonal Laborer

DEPARTMENT: Golf & Grounds Department

REPORTS TO: Golf & Grounds Managers

POSITION LOCATION: Indianapolis

FLSA STATUS: NonExempt

WORKER CATEGORY: Seasonal (Temporary)

DURATION: Fall 2024 Beyond

POSITION SUMMARY:

Be a part of the team that maintains the most unique turf and landscape in sports. The Golf and Grounds Department of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is responsible for maintaining the turf and landscape of the historic motor speedway including the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course. Brickyard Crossing designed by architect Pete Dye features 4 holes inside the motor speedway and has the unique distinction of having hosted PGA Senior PGA and LPGA Tour events.

Fulltime and parttime schedules available with flexible options.Ranging from 26 days/week while hours can range from 15 40 hours per week dependent on applicant. This position is perfect for individuals looking towards a career in golf or grounds management retirees college students or someone seeking parttime hours.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Maintains grounds and property associated with IMS including the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course.
  • Safely operates power equipment to mow turf clean grounds remove leaves trash and other debris.
  • Maintains mowing watering chemical applications and cultural maintenance practices of all IMS turf and landscape areas.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
  • Assists horticulture team in the daily maintenance and installation of landscape beds.
  • Assists in the preparation of the golf course for daily play.
  • Assists in the preparation of the grounds for events and daily visitors.
  • Cutting trimming pruning and removal of trees.
  • Applies plant protectant and fertilizers to turf landscapes and trees.
  • Establish and plant grass flower trees and shrubs from seed sod and transplanting.
  • Waters lawns shrubs and golf course turf as directed.
  • Enthusiasm for and commitment to the company and the Vision Mission and Values.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Education

  • High school graduate GED or higher.

Skills/Experience

  • Candidate must possess positive attitude strong work ethic attention to detail eagerness to learn and organizational skills.
  • High integrity efficient people skills and effective communication skills.
  • Innovative thinker and selfstarter with perseverance to work on a team to succeed.
  • Requires valid drivers license.

Work Hours

  • Full PartTime and flexible schedules and hours available. Part Time schedules may range from 26 days a week with hours worked between 48 hours. Morning help is preferred. Those looking to work a full schedule will work 6 days 40 hours a week.

  • Part or Flexible schedules can be made to accommodate retirees students or those who have limited time available. Please express your availability in the interview process.
