Job Description
Role Summary
The Sr. Project Director KGM Mine will lead workstreams for the Kings Mountain Mining Capital Project development and with focus on safety cost schedule and business readiness to deliver a world class lithium mining operation. The successful candidate will operate with skill and agility across technical leadership and project responsibilities. This role will report into VP Global Capital Project Development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross functional team of project practitioners to define project scope goals and deliverables that support business and technology goals in collaboration with stakeholders: including evaluating project requests setting of priorities and ensuring stakeholders approval.
- Track and communicate project status risks and key milestones to internal project stakeholders and adjust project plans budget requests and/or resources as required to meet project requirements
- Responsible for all KGM Mine project deliverables either developed internally or by approved 3rd party service providers ensuring adequate frontend engineering and scope development along with overseeing the detailed design and construction efforts to meet project requirements
- Ensure the accuracy of Mine design information according to corporate specifications and standards whether done by Albemarle personnel or by outside contractors prior to being issued for design/construction
- In coordination with the Resources group lead the development of the design basis for all KGM Mine project technical disciplines. Review technical feasibility of proposed solutions to engineering problems.
- Ensure constructability reviews are used in project phases to validate the completeness and operability of designs.
- Lead construction organization to ensure adequate construction planning and safe work during the phase of the project
- Ensure teams (internal and external) review and revise engineering specifications and standards as required by supervision or as needed to ensure compliance with industry and regulatory requirements.
- Subject matter expert and coach The role will be instrumental in establishing the team culture and inspiring the next generation of leaders to expand their capacity scale their leadership and grow with Albemarle
- Mentor teammate and advocate building a highperforming organization creating measurable value for the organization and inspiring innovation
- Manage stakeholders to ensure alignment with team objectives throughout the course of the planning phase building relationships at all levels of the organization.
- In conjunction with Government and Community Affairs actively participating in community engagement activities
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum B.S. or Engineering degree in Mining or a related resources field
- 15 years of global mining technical and project experience in a hard rock mining environment
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think critically and strategically
- Strong business operational and technical acumen
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- International operational experience in Australia Chile or North America highly regarded
- Advanced degree in projects engineering science business or related field highly preferred.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
