Job Description

Primary Purpose

The Library and Instructional Materials Coordinator is responsible for the overall directioncoordination implementation oversight control and management of Districtwide library systems and Instructional Materials budgeting and procurement all under the general direction of the Director of Digital Learning.

Education / Certification

Education

  • Minimum of a Masters degree preferred.
  • Valid Texas teachers certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.
  • Library certification preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of five 5 years experience as a teacher (K12.
  • Five 5 years of Successful Experience in a K12 Library.

  • Proven Leadership in Implementing Innovative Library Programs
  • Assertive personality and disposition confidence with humility
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Excel Word Outlook and OneNote
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Outgoing personality and demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards
  • Excels at operating in a fastpaced environment
  • Open to the direction and collaborative work style and commitment to getting the job done

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Library Program Support

  • Provide leadership and vision for the District libraries
  • Evaluate electronic and media resources and programs in support of effective teaching
  • Work with campus principals to provide optimal service and instruction for each campus
  • Work with District teams to support library construction and renovation
  • Liaison to division of Instruction and Learning
  • Manage digital database resources

Instructional Materials

  • Track and report Instructional Material Allotment (IMA) biennial budget and expenditures timelines and provide budget updates to District leadership and governing bodies
  • Work with leadership and advisory committees to ensure stakeholder transparency and accountability
  • Coordinate instructional materials selection process with Teaching and Learning department

Other

  • Provide professional development
  • Determine ongoing compliance issues
  • Serve the function of District Copyright Officer
  • Work with District teams to support library construction and renovation
  • Review and update relevant Board policies as needed
  • Participate in District and campus committees as appropriate

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Paraprofessional and professional staff as assigned
