Job Description El Buen Samaritano Episcopal Mission (El Buen) seeks a Summer Youth Development Coordinator (Temporary/Seasonal). As part of the team you will provide support to the Youth Development Coordinators andsupervisionofgroupsofchildreninanacademicrecreationaland/orenrichmentsetting during Summer Camp. You will ensure the safety of the students while assisting in the development and of a program plan which occurs during summer camp. Depending on the program position may lead a project activity or tutor students in advanced academic subjects.
This position will be in an inperson environment Monday Thursday from 8:30am 3:30pm starting May 27 July 31 (With a week break from June 30 4th.
EssentialFunctions:
Lead and supervise a group of students approximately 1520during summer camp programming in June and July.
Work with youth development coordinatorsto develop and implement a scheduleofactivitieswhich meet thephysicalemotionalsocialand cognitiveneeds of thechildren.Thesewill include individualand groupactivities.
Contribute to thedevelopment ofand implements ageappropriate STEAM lesson plans and activitiesincludingsocial/emotionallearning that engageall participants and adapts activities as needed.
Identify educational and behavioral goals of individual children and groups of children and implement STEAM curriculum that actualizes goals engaging in ongoing evaluation and adjustment as needed.
When onsite ensure that thechildren areproperlysupervised at all times.
Assign tasks to volunteers and supervise theirinteractions with students parents and peers.
Ensure programrequirements aremet on a dailybasis.
Attend daily meetings with the youth team and supervisor.
Lead and teach the class when the Youth Development Coordinator is not available.
Distribute healthy snacks ormeals as pertheCentralTexas Food Bankafterschooland summermeal serviceprogramstandards.
Promote and model desired behaviorand actions healthy habitsproperhygiene and physical activity.
Maintain a safeand cleanenvironment by keeping the youth classrooms cleanand organizedcleaning thefacilityand toys as necessaryandremoving physicalhazards in theclassroomsoronthecourtyardorEl Buenfacilitiesreport safetyandhealth issues immediatelyto supervisorormaintenance.
Understand and implement emergency procedures in case of fire tornados or other emergencies; when necessary administer FirstAid/CPR.
AdditionalJobDuties:
Help maintain files and database;assists inpreparing student records as wellas class attendance registration andreport cards foreach individual student.
May provide additional support throughout the family literacy department.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
Graduation from high schooland a CDAorAssociates in EarlyChildhood.
At least oneyearof experienceworking with youthrequired.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required
Demonstrated experienceworking with children in a group setting.
Understanding ofteaching strategies for workingwith learning differences
Demonstrated competencyassisting with basic mathreading and otherelementarylevel schoolwork.
Demonstrated crosscultural sensitivityworkingwith ourclients and Spanishspeakers.
Strong verbalcommunication and interpersonalskills
Abilityto relatewelltoyoung children inanencouraging and positiveway.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint); ability to learn and utilize document creation software such as Adobe Acrobat and databases.
Must pass allrequired criminalhistorybackground checks;haveavalid Texas drivers license.
Ability to use technology to facilitate virtual lessons attend meetings and provide student support.
