Job Description
- Read and interpret blueprints drawings and specifications to determine the appropriate welding processes and techniques.
- Set up welding equipment and perform welding operations on various materials including steel aluminum and other metals.
- Inspect and test welds for quality ensuring compliance with safety standards and project requirements
- Maintain welding equipment and tools ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Collaborate with team members and other departments to meet production schedules and projects deadlines.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
- Document work completed and report any issues or discrepancies to supervisors
- Completes repair orders and attendance records legibly and in a timely manner
- Responsible for shop cleanliness and safety and compliance
- Maintains proficiency on equipment and technologies to enhance quality of work and productivity
- Available to work a variety of shifts including days evenings nights and weekends
- Additional duties and projects as assigned by supervisor
- High School Diploma or equivalency; vocational training in welding is a plus
- 34 years of container/chassis/trailer repair experience
- Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing or construction environment
- Proficient in MIG TIG and arc welding techniques
- Ability to read and understand technical documents and blueprints
- Strong attentions to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Valid welding certification is preferred
- Ability to perform strenuous physical activity including but not limited to lifting up to 100 lb. bending kneeling reaching climbing and working in awkward positions for extended periods of time
- Must provide own hand and air tools
- CDL and ASE certifications desired but not required
