Job Description

Overview

The Cash Application Specialist is tasked with prompt and accurate update ERP accounts receivable systems based on payments received from trade customers. This entails daily weekly and monthly reports research and support functions as needed thereby enabling an effective collections process.

The role will work closely with internal collections team customers credit card processors and banking partners to ensure prompt and accurate payment application. A strong customer service mindset and attention to detail is for success.

The role will work closely with crossfunctional departments and AR team members to coordinate daily workflow and ensure compliance with SLAs and work to understand and resolve issues while adhering to established company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

While other duties may be assigned the ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Responsible for a high volume of cash application including any related research and associated internal/external contact.
  • Reconcile payment remittance advice to the payment and funds received at the bank daily in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while upholding deadlines setforth.
  • Update AS400 accounts receivable documents based on the payment remittance advice supporting documents and defined procedures.
  • Maintain files of payments and support in a logical system for storage and retrieval.
  • Understanding of thirdparty payment processor relationships to assist customers with payment processing
  • Process and communicate insufficient funds transactions appropriately
  • Follows up with trade customers accounts payable contacts for questions related to payments or supporting documents.
  • Willingness to crosstrain on all department operations to provide coverage when needed in the interest of meeting the needs of the business while furthering ones development.
  • Special projects as assigned

WORKWEEK

The regular workweek is forty hours however requirements of the position may warrant extended work hours. Associate must be available to work Saturdays.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma with Associates Degree strongly desired
  • Prior cash application experience highly desired.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed to complete assigned tasks within deadlines setforth.
  • Collaborative attitude as well as strong analytical and investigative skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal and external management through various methods of communication
  • Ability to define problems identify solutions and follow through to completion
  • Understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Working knowledge of AS400 system
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Knowledge of transactional processes and systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel Word Outlook and various business software systems as needed

Is legally able to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job the associate is regularly required to talk hear stand walk and use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls.
  • The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The associate is frequently required to sit and occasionally to climb or balance; and stoop kneel and crouch.
  • The associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading vision for computer monitor and hard copy print.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job the associate is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to moderate.

Pay Range

USD $19.25 USD $25.75 /Yr.
