Additional Certification/Licensure RequirementsAll agency and nonhospitalbased applicants must have Virginia Radiologic Technologist license application submitted
prior to hire and licensure obtained within 90 days of hire.
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of
orientation.
QualificationsKnowledge of human growth and development and competence in providing Radiologic services for patients of all ages
including neonate child adolescent adult and geriatric required
Knowledge of computer technology required
Knowledge of human crosssectional anatomy physiology pathology pharmacology and medical terminology required
Excellent communication skills to relate to physician peers and patients on a professional and technical level required
Ability to perform general diagnostic radiography/fluoroscopy and portable radiography examination and procedures on
patients of all ages required
Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure techniques required
Ability to work with Radiography students with varying skill levels required
Ability to work in a stressful environment required
Ability to operate CT scan equipment with attention to detail required
Must be able for oncall rotation and call back to the hospital required
Must be able to work weekends/holidays and available for all shifts as needed

Work Function/Activity : Sedentary to Medium Physical Demand 10 to 50 lbs) Frequent hand washing required.
Frequent standing walking. Occasional sitting bending squatting crouching kneeling stretching reaching climbing.
Frequent lifting pulling pushing carrying twisting. Frequent repetitive movements. Visual ability to see details at a
distance (corrected to 20/40 to see details of objects at a close range (within a few feet of the observer) to match or
detect differences between colors including shades of color and brightness and to judge which of several objects is
closer or farther away from the observer or to judge the distance between an object and the observer. Able to speak
clearly so that it is understandable to a listener. Able to identify and understand the speech of another person. Able to
focus on a single source of auditory (hearing) information in the presence of other distracting sounds and to detect or tell
the difference between sounds that vary over broad ranges of pitch and loudness. Use of equipment including
electronic imaging computers xray development chemicals light screens for viewing xray images office and record
keeping equipment. Mental activities necessary include technical problem solving interpretation computing
organizational and communication skills.
