Job Description

- Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Completion of a North Carolina Stateapproved Nurse Aide I course.
- Registered as a Nurse Aide I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service Regulation.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) may be required within one year in select areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assistance: Assist medical staff with patient preparation examinations and procedures including patient interviews data documentation and vital signs monitoring.
- Nursing Process: Participate in implementing the nursing process by providing direct care to patients under the guidance of an RN or LPN.
- Room Setup: Prepare and maintain examination rooms ensuring cleanliness restocking and proper equipment setup.
- Communication: Ensure complete accurate and timely communication of patient information within the healthcare team.
- Specimen Handling: Collect and process specimens for diagnostic testing following policy guidelines.
- Documentation: Accurately document all patient care provided in the medical record according to medical center policy.
- Point of Care Testing: Maintain competency for point of care testing as assigned ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
- Effective Communication: Communicate effectively with the healthcare team colleagues patients and family members in a professional and positive manner.
- Professional Development: Take personal responsibility and initiative for professional growth and development.
- AgeSpecific Care: Provide age/developmentally appropriate patient care following guidelines for the clinical population served.
- Infection Prevention: Comply with Medical Center Infection Prevention policies to manage infectious materials using proper techniques sanitization chemical disinfection surgical asepsis and safe handling of biohazardous materials.
- Mission and Values: Adhere to the Medical Centers mission vision values and the philosophy of the Department of Nursing and Service Line standards in patient care.
- Additional Duties: Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Work Environment:
- Typical clinical setting.
