Job Summary
This advisory level positionapplies geographic basin expertise and interprets geological geophysical or petrophysical data in order togenerate and develop leads into exploration prospects.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Leads interpretations ofgeological geophysical or petrophysical information from sources such as survey data seismic reflection data well logs bore holes or aerial photos
- Conductsgeological geophysical or petrophysical field studies or surveys sample collection or drilling and testing programs
- Advises the preparation of geological maps crosssection diagrams charts or reports using results of fieldwork or laboratory research
- Locates estimates and predicts oil and natural gas fields using integrated analysis of data and information
- Applies advanced geological geophysical or petrophysical theories applications and models to explain predict and interpret data
- Advisesmanagement and/or Business Unit teams based on complete integration of data or generated seismic inversion results (both deterministic and stochastic) project economics and risk analysis
- Adviseson technical issues across multiple disciplines; mentors lower level staff in areas of expertise
- Leads efforts to develop optimization strategies or new technologies to maximize the production of oil and gas
- Leads costcutting efforts offering innovative and valueadded solutions to drive costs down while maximizing production of oil and gas
- Participates in local and national Geological societies
- Publishesand presents research and publications to advance the industry
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Specific Skills
- Expert knowledge of logging tools measurement and quality control of logging jobs
- Expert knowledge of field operations including logging units drilling rigs and directional framework and their relationship to basin architecture
- Expert knowledge and familiarity with geologic database and mapping software
- Expert utilization and application of laboratory analysis of samples side wall cores and whole cores
- Expert utilization and application of qualitative 2D and 3D seismic interpretation and seismic acquisition
- Advanced knowledge of project management principles and methodologies
- Advanced knowledge of lease acquisitions division of interest and separation of surface and subsurface rights
Education
Minimum: Bachelors degree from accredited university Geology Geophysics Petrophysics or related field (Geology Geophysics Petrophysics Engineering Math Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions)
Preferred: Masters degree from accredited university Geology Geophysics Petrophysics or related field (Geology Geophysics Petrophysics Engineering Math Physics or related field for Petrophysicist positions)
Experience
Minimum: 12 15 years related work experience
