You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailMunichbased OroraTech is developing a constellation of nanosatellites with thermal infrared cameras for automated wildfire detection severe weather warnings and many other applications. Following the successful launches of our FOREST1 mission in January 2022 and FOREST2 in June 2023 we are launching our next satellite FOREST3 beginning of 2025 which includes an inhouse developed payload and BUS. In the same year our first satellite plane OTCP1 as well as our newly designed 16U satellite GENAOT will be launched.
The next step is to improve our satellite design based on all the learnings we have gained and scale up our production to extend our satellite constellation.As a Mechanical engineer you will:
Take lead responsibility for the mechanical structure within individual satellite or payload projects such as developing mounting structures for subsystems or optical components deployment mechanisms or even an entire satellite.
Be involved in all aspects of mechanical design from initial concept to part designs assemblies production drawing generation and manufacturing orders.
Design components for upcoming satellite missions testing and ground support.
Perform handson prototyping both with 3D printed and metal parts including conducting first assemblies and debugging to improve your mechanical design.
Work closely with our AIT team during development phases and assist with the assembly integration and testing of flight hardware.
Participate in design reviews from the concept level down to individual parts.
Plan and assist mechanical test campaigns for the satellite and its subsystems including functional and vibration tests.
Practical experience 3 years) in the development of complex mechanical structures and mechanisms including concept design and production drawing generation.
Proficiency in CAD software preferably Solidworks.
Strong handson attitude and experience in rapid prototyping technologies (tell us about your sideprojects!.
Strong problemsolving skills with a proactive mindset.
Exceptional organizational skills and a structured approach to work.
You are good in recognizing timeline monetary or design related risks and communicate them early and effectively.
You know how to reliably work with a task or ticketing projectmanagement system like Wrike.
You find effective ways of documenting your work and telling others about it using software like Slack and Confluence.
Motivation to tackle a wide variety of challenges looking beyond your job description.
Fluent English skills.
