POSTDOCTORAL TRAINING PROGRAM The postdoctoral training program at SARRC is designed to inspire young professionals to participate in critical impactful work with individuals on the autism spectrum. There are two separate opportunities for postdoctoral training: PostDoctoral ASD Research Residency (two years) or PostDoctoral ASD Clinical Diagnostic Residency (one year).
In the research oriented postdoctoral residency qualified individuals will build a strong foundation for autism research with research activities publications and grant applications. Residents will contribute to the design and implementation of research on SARRCs clinical programs and will pursue their own line of behavioral research related to ASD. Additionally residents will be expected to conduct secondary data analysis of archival records from SARRCs database and to apply for external funding for innovative research projects. Applicants should have recently obtained their Ph.D. (or advanced to candidacy) in Psychology or a related field and have a strong background in research design and statistical analysis.
In the clinical diagnostic residency residents will learn to conduct gold standard assessment procedures with toddlers children teens and adults and will develop expertise in identifying the symptoms of ASD with their heterogeneous presentation across a variety of individuals. Residents will achieve mastery of developing rapport administering semistructured observational and interview assessments conducting a variety of structured assessments including scoring and interpretation of results of assessments into meaningful diagnostic information according to DSM5. These skills will provide a strong foundation for clinical or research careers in and beyond ASD. Residents will have direct interaction with a variety of clients and have the opportunity to observe and participate in a variety of research activities.Postdoctoral residency at SARRC will produce wellrounded psychologists with a strong foundation for multiple career directions.
