Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following other duties may be assigned)
The position is responsible for routine Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) compliance management of The Geysers geothermal power generation facilities. While this position will serve as the main point of contact for the Steamfield the work will encompass many working groups including other power plants and auxiliary departments such as projects and central maintenance. Responsible for complex technical work in a wide range of EHS disciplines to maintain compliance with the organizations EHS standards federal and state regulatory requirements and consensus industry standards. Reviews and interprets EHS rules and regulations and advises management accordingly. Has complete understanding of EHS principles concepts practices standards and regulations. Coordinates compliance assurance activities with multimedia environmental programs including air emissions waste management and all associated monitoring reporting and other permit requirements. Reviews plant EHS procedures and makes recommendations for updates according to laws and regulations and best practices. Champions for eventfree operations and risk recognition/mitigation in environmental and safety areas including Calpine Cardinal Safety Rules and occupational safety compliance. Investigates EHS incidents including accidents/injuries environmental upsets and near miss events. Supports employee training related to EHS compliance and emergency preparedness. Prepares and maintains all necessary EHS compliance documents and records.
