Positions of lab technician and research assistant/associate are immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. George Luo in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Individuals with experience and expertise in animal care and use for biomedical research particularly in murine models of diseases are preferred. She/he is expected to be responsible for taking care of various transgenic and geneknockout mice and to work with infectious hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis delta virus (HDV) in cell culture and in mice. The mouse modeling of HBVinduced liver diseases (hepatitis cirrhosis and liver cancer) requires the following technical skills: mouse crossbreeding genotyping tail vein injection bleeding hepatocyte isolation and mouse liver humanization. JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision the research lab technician IV plans develops modifies and implements previously developed and original experimental procedures in a research laboratory exercising independent judgment based upon specialized theoretical knowledge of the applicable science. Provides direction and guidance to technicians and staff in the laboratory.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in the Biological and/or Physical Sciences with four years of related chemical/research experience. Masters degree in Biology or related Physical Science with two years of laboratory experience preferred.
