Job Description

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Nike seeks a directorlevel Store Designer for Retail & Brand Experiences: An innovator who will support and develop consumerled experiential concepts across North America sport and culture moments. A creative collaborative and strategic team leader who will develop impactful physical and digital solutions for immersive environments both inside and outside of our Retail doors. Always looking to expand the possibilities to create design solutions that reflect Nikes brand standards and improve the consumer experience.

You have a track record of innovative use of emerging technology to build impactful spaces consumer engagement and interaction. You can work across several design subject areas such as Architecture Environmental Graphic Design Materials Photography and Motion with ease. You ideate creative concepts illustrate your ideas and enjoy being handson as you lead projects to completion.

You will work across multiple projects simultaneously partnering closely with the North America Retail Brand team Brand team and agency partners to deliver highly innovative and immersive concepts and experiences. You will deliver comprehensive design concepts stay tapped into the pulse of future design trends and apply this thinking to your work growing the possibilities of interactive storytelling and experiences. We are looking for someone who shares our drive and agility to explore the new; who is passionate and determined to create boundarybreaking sport experiences.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • Support and partner with the Sr. Creative Director to lead strategic and tactical direction and design continuity across retail stores and brand experiences tied to sport and culture moments.
  • Lead a design process of clear ideation focusing on exploration of consumer journey space color materiality texture proportion scale and overall use of the environment.
  • Ensure project goals and priorities align with Nike brand and business strategies.
  • Constantly seek new and innovative ways to tell stories through graphics styling lighting sculpture photography video animation and more.
  • Develop 2D and 3D presentation materials that effectively communicate design concepts to all levels of leadership and partners.
  • Collaborate with producers design counterparts internal partners (Brand Retail Brand Brand Design Digital etc. and external partners to ensure feasibility of designs and functional needs are met.
  • Actively gain knowledge and contribute to the development of Nikes brand standards design ethos products and processes.
  • Drive education and inspiration sharing knowledge and exposure to current and future trends influencing the innovation of consumer experiences and technology.
  • Collaborate across project teams and the Retail Design org.
  • Foster innovative thinking collaboration and teamwork.
  • Understand design processes to ensure results timelines and budgets are met.
  • You may travel 1020 of the time.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Under the direction of a Sr. Creative Director and in partnership with Producers and crossfunctional peers you will realize innovative original experiential environments and programs that reflect Nikes design standards and enhance the consumer experience. This role provides leadership development and design direction to junior level designers. Additionally you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Nike as well as external design agencies architectural firms experiential agencies production agencies and vendors.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in retail design experiential design architectural design or brand design and a demonstrated ability to apply these skills in ways that elevate brand excellence; includes at least 3 years of management experience.
  • Bachelors degree in architecture environmental design or related field or equivalent combination of education experience or training
  • A passion for the Athlete* Sport and Culture.
  • Demonstrated strength in operating in a design studio and delivering progressively complex projects of varying scales budgets and timelines.
  • Expert in applying and performing design skills including concepting ideation drawing/sketching typography color theory texture photo art direction spatial design in scale visual presentation development and space planning layouts.
  • Strong knowledge of current trends in architecture retail events exhibitions art and experience design and their application to the sport industry.
  • Strong knowledge of production design fabrication materiality and emerging manufacturing trends.
  • Strategic thinking and adept at connecting the dots across multiple approaches and outputs.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and create compelling solutions when the way forward is not always clear.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present new concepts and designs to small and large groups including presenting to executive leaders and external partners.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple and competing work priorities demands and changes.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a highly developed ability to cultivate relationships in an open positive and inclusive environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaborate with teams across a mix of complex projects.
  • A sense of humor positivity and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • A strong portfolio of relevant work.
  • Demonstrated expertise using computer design applications including SketchUp Rhino Grasshopper VRay Figma Keynote and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience with motion graphics and videoediting is a plus.
