Job Description

Join us in driving impactful change by transforming the NSW electricity system!

Play a crucial role in EnergyCos media strategy as we help transform the NSW electricity system

  • Ongoing fulltime role at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
  • Sydney or Regional location by negotiation
  • Hybrid working from home and office supported
  • Salary range from $110266 to $122058 plus super and leave loading

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coalfired power stations near closure.

About the Opportunity

EnergyCos Planning and Communities team are seeking a Communications and Media Officer to develop and implement communication strategies media campaigns and engagement initiatives to enhance EnergyCos brand whilst supporting energy projects and facilitating media relations. You will support EnergyCos media strategy by establishing relationships with the media responding to a range of media enquiries assisting with proactive engagement and monitoring media coverage.

Working closely with project teams youll contribute to highquality media responses proactive engagement campaigns and innovative communication solutions that inform and inspire. If you thrive in a fastpaced environment and are eager to make an impact in the energy sector we want to hear from you!

Some work outside standard working hours will be required. This will include being on a paid media oncall roster on some weekends. Rostered hours will normally start at 7am with a 3pm finish to assist with any early morning media enquiries and media monitoring and reporting.

The preferred location of this role is within Sydney however for regional applicants outside of Newcastle or Dubbo the role will initially work remotely from home with the view of working from an EnergyCo office within the region when one becomes available and it is safe to do so.

About You

You are a communications professional with a background in journalism public relations or digital media bringing strong experience in crafting compelling content and managing media relations. With a keen eye for detail and the ability to develop highquality communications materials including media releases social media content and internal updates you thrive in a fastpaced environment where no two days are the same. Your adaptability allows you to pivot between tasks seamlessly and you excel at managing competing priorities under tight deadlines.

To succeed in this role you will need to be someone who can hit the ground running who is confident being proactive independent and can take ownership of your workload. You understand the importance of stakeholder engagement and have experience building and maintaining strong relationships across various teams. With an ability to navigate evolving organisational structures you ensure that communication strategies remain effective and aligned with broader objectives. If you enjoy working under pressure while delivering impactful communication initiatives this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in media public relations or journalism.
  • Work will be required outside of standard working hours and an ability to participate in EnergyCos on call weekend media roster (allowance provided).

Who we are

The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board appointed by the Minister for Energy. EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Governments Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap which aims to transform the states electricity system into one that is cheap clean and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020 EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the States first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs) which are located in the CentralWest Orana New England South West HunterCentral Coast and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities investors and industry to investigate plan recommend and coordinate generation storage and network infrastructure projects.

We acknowledge the ongoing custodial responsibilities of the Aboriginal peoples of NSW to care for Country and water and are committed to establishing meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal peoples in the management of the environment.
