Posted: March 24 2025 Closed: April 14 2025Employment Opportunity: Sherwood and Oak Middle Schools (Grades 58)POSITION: Middle Level Curriculum Coordinator for Social StudiesShrewsbury Public Schools is currently accepting applications for a fulltime Curriculum Coordinator Social Studies Grades 58. The Curriculum Coordinator is responsible for the Social Studies instructional program at the middle school level which encompasses one Grade 56 (Sherwood) school and one Grade 78 (Oak) school.The focus of the position is curriculum development and implementation professional development and program assessment. In addition the Curriculum Coordinator functions as a primary 50 or secondary 50 evaluator for the members of their team.This position is part of the Unit A schedule and receives a stipend in addition to their placement on the salary scale. It reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Instruction and Assessment with one of the middle school principals as a secondary evaluator.Responsibilities:Works within the assigned budget ordering textbooks supplies and equipmentWorks with teachers on a daily basis in the classroomCoordinates with the Assistant Superintendent for the coordination of subject matter in assigned grades and content areas and in collaboration with the elementary and high school curriculums.Teaches model lessons for middle school teachersTeaches students directly within a range of time determined by the contract Prepares and presents professional development for social studies teachersParticipates on interview teams at the middle levelPlans middle school program development and maintains appropriate curriculum guidesConvenes regular meetings with teachers for curriculum planning and evaluationIdentifies secures and maintains inventory records for appropriate curriculum material for both teachers and studentsSupport and promotes the annual goals of the districtParticipates on curriculum evaluation teamsMaintains connections to professional organizations in assigned subject areasWe are interested in candidates who are invested in the achievement equity and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom.Candidates with diverse racial ethnic cultural religious class and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.Preferred:Licensure to cover the teaching of History or Social Studies Grades 58 (required)Directors license to cover the evaluation of teachers of History or Social Studies Grades 58 (preferred)Course work in curriculum development and educational administration is desirable.Works flexibly in a changing environmentUnderstands the needs and behaviors of middle school studentsDemonstrates the values of Shrewsbury Public SchoolsApplication Process:Interested candidates should submit a cover letter resume official or unofficial copies of undergraduate/graduate transcripts license # or unofficial copy of license if applicable and three current professional letters of reference including one from a direct supervisor professor or evaluator.Please apply with your full application packet to www.schoolspring or www.indeed or via direct email to Barbara Malone Executive Director of Human Resources at Shrewsbury Public Schools is an affirmative action employer ensuring that its programs and facilities are accessible to the public.
