About Us

Heidelberg Materials is seeking a concrete Lab Supervisor. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager this role will be responsible for managing the quality control laboratory and ensuring the highest standards of quality assurance for all readymix concrete products. This position is in Vancouver BC.

What Youll Be Doing

  • Proactively manage the safety and health of employees continuously improving safety performance and maintaining lab and testing equipment.
  • Develop implement and monitor quality standards processes and controls while ensuring compliance with Group guidelines and maintaining CCiL certification.
  • Supervise Quality Control staff including hiring training performance reviews and providing ongoing support and training to lab personnel and production employees.
  • Gather analyze and report quality control data and statistics maintaining uptodate and accurate quality control records and lab reports.
  • Determine laboratory strategy to align with plant and company goals interpret quality control test results resolve issues and control inventory by balancing production with demand forecasts.

What Are We Looking For

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field with a Masters degree considered an asset.
  • Registered as an EngineerInTraining (E.I.T. with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) required.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance and quality control within the readymix concrete construction materials or related industries with proven lab supervision experience and a track record of supervising and developing technical staff.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mix designs control procedures and product applications with a comprehensive understanding of applicable codes standards and test methods (CSA ACI ASTM AASHTO).
  • Proven leadership communication and analytical skills with demonstrated proficiency in computer skills including the use of relevant software applications and strong technical writing abilities.
