Job Description

This position is focused on supporting Eastmans key growth objectives by bringing innovations to market rapidly improving safety of operations and upskilling our Eastman team.

The Manufacturing Automation and Robotics Project Leader will be a critical contributor to modernizing Eastmans manufacturing processes. The individual will be a member of Eastmans Automation Engineering Team serving the key corporate operations transformation initiative. The individual will bring their knowledge of emerging technologies robotics automation manufacturing process optimization and creativity to perform process assessments and provide projectbased recommendations for automation of existing and new manufacturing processes in order to meet operations team business objectives. The individual in this role will maximize the opportunity to create new business opportunities and business results through their vision of automating the manufacturing process and leading a dedicated team to work with manufacturing to deliver on that vision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate investment alternatives that provide the best longterm value creation solution coordinating with the Facility Business Engineering Sourcing and Legal teams
  • Lead (and participate as a team member) assessments of operations for potential to incorporate automation robotics and smart technologies.
  • Provide project management including specification review estimate and installation of new equipment
  • Identify propose and implement quality enhancements service improvements and cost saving opportunities
  • Develop automation solutions that are aligned with optimizing safety plant performance throughput and quality
  • Understand the marketplace relative to emerging technologies and key partners
  • Develop supplier base to assist with ongoing efforts.
  • Partner with other technical resources operations staff and Information Technology personnel to deliver effective solutions
  • Prepare value analysis of proposed solution alternatives track performance of implemented systems provide progress updates as well as completion report to senior management
  • Identifies qualifies quantifies and manages risk and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued
  • Captures analyzes and shares lessons learned throughout the project
  • Influence Operations Management and Lead meetings at the V.P. level

Education and Experience

  • A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in accredited engineering field. (Mechanical / Industrial preferred)
  • Knowledge of Controls/ Electrical instrumentation design PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers)/ HMI(Human Machine Interface)/ PC/ Robot programming Simulation FAT startup and commissioning of Greenfield and Brownfield projects
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and standards for logistic applications Picking Packing Palletizing and Depalletizing
  • Seven plus years of experience
  • Experience in manufacturing automation equipment commissioning qualifications and lifecycle management is preferred.
  • Improvement focused mindset
  • Proven history of leading multidiscipline efforts as formal or informal leader.
  • Creative innovative thinker with ability to convert ideas to tangible options with associated benefit to cost valuation.
  • Capable of effectively communicating proposals and plans in verbal written and presentation format to multiple functions multiple sites and multiple levels within the organization.
  • Ability to travel 15 25
